Publisher's Summary

Hurt people hurt people. Say there was a novel in which Holden Caulfield was an alcoholic and Lolita was a photographer's assistant, and somehow they met in bright lights, big city. He was blinded by love. She by ambition.

Diary of an Oxygen Thief is an honest, hilarious, and heartrending audiobook but, above all, a very realistic account of what we do to each other and what we allow to have done to us.

just ok

first tiny bit hooks you in but then it can drag for a bit. very woe is me. you want him to get his karma. but it seems to take forever.
would have been a nice touch if this had been done by someone with an Irish accent seeing as this is being told as if the person who wrote it is speaking.

Interesting concept but drags on...

Doesn't get any better after the first chapter. wouldn't recommend unless you want to fall asleep.

just go to therapy

yeah, I don't care enough about this guy to be reading his diary.

just go to therapy instead of trying to turn not just your trauma, but the trauma of the people YOU have hurt into a monetizable venture.

Insight into a Manipulative Mind

Although this book often made me deeply uncomfortable by how the author viewed women, I’m hoping this was the point of it. You don’t often get an honest look into what a master manipulator is thinking, so it’s somewhat cathartic to find the (albeit faulty) reasoning behind people that emotionally hurt others for pleasure.

Well written but thin

It's easy to listen to and written smoothly, but a bit thin. The author is so interested in his own story that his 'reveals' are a bit of an anticlimax.

hard to rate

I find this incredibly hard to rate. A selfish story, unwilling to celebrate but very interesting to observe.

It's okay. Nothing special.

I kinda knew where it was going. Nothing really special about the story. Quick and easy.

Emotionally accurate and amazing!!!!

it took me 3 days to finish but by God it was a good 3 days. I was captivated by the book almost instantly and how raw the authors feelings were almost poured out of the pages! 9/10 in my ratings. As a perfect 10 would be offered if I knew the author and could congratulate him.

Good story but of a flat ending

I really enjoyed this it was an interesting insight and honest account of how someone thinks. It would be eye opening to some and will resonate with other (although they might not want to admit it out loud).
I found the ending quite flat to be honest though he thought he got his comeuppance but I thought he just had a bit of a rough night he deserved worse but I guess the fact that I felt that way about him means the narrator did their job well. Worth a short listen.
