Publisher's Summary

Overrun and forced to escape the killing grounds of Fort Indiantown Gap, the survivors of the 10th Mountain Division once again find themselves on the road, in search of sanctuary from the threat of the reekers.

With a new plan in hand, Captain Phil Hastings, Master Sergeant Slater, and the acting president of the United States, Henry Cornell, lead their group of remaining forces toward Fort Bragg, NC, in an effort to enact Contingency operations that will save the United States from the clutches of the dead.

Meanwhile, Sergeant First Class Carl Ballantine, Staff Sergeant Guerra, and the remnants of the 10th Mountain Division join the National Guard and surviving civilians as they head west. Their destination: the fortress city of Colorado Springs.

Each group has its own mission...yet they are both inextricably linked. If one fails, the other is doomed as well. Hastings needs to save the nation, and Ballantine and the remnants of the storied 10th Mountain need to save Hastings. The only thing that is clear in all of this is that everyone needs to be saved...from the ravenous reekers.

Meh… 4 years between books and getting nowhere

First the good news… this book cut way back on the overt misogyny and was way better written. I LOL’d a few times too. On to the bad news… it’s been just over 4 years since the first book came out and the author had only covered a handful of days in this zombie apocalypse. I can’t see how the storyline can move forward in any meaningful way when we are getting nowhere in time in the ZA. Especially if we have to wait another 4 years for the next installment.

Also… I’ve already figured out how the ZA will be fixed. Picking up a suspected domestic terrorist in the middle of a ZA is pretty freaking bizarre storyline in itself (who would care??) but it’s only there as a set up for this particular terrorist’s WMDA to do the job. High frequency sound. Count on it! It may take the next 20 years to complete the storyline but it’ll happen eventually. Sigh…

Better listens elsewhere

I enjoyed the first book. This book is almost awful — If RC hadn’t been there it’d be awful.

Not as good as the first one.

I loved the first book, but this one was not worth the wait. The characters are no longer likable and just couldn’t connect with them. The story telling was sloppy and didn’t feel like it was leading anywhere.
RC Bray kept me interested, but this book wasn’t worth the wait.

Favorite Military Zombie Series

Great story and characters. Authentic interaction between soldier makes this a great read for veterans. Can’t wait for the next one, better not take another four years.

Did not measure up to book 1.

For the years this took to come out it was not as good as I was expecting. The narration is still outstanding. However, there was little plot to this one.

finally less liberal

great story and the great news is less political stuff in the story as the author in his other books makes it well know he hate liberals. since I'm a military veteran and liberal it would take me out of the story. I still have a 1hr left but I only heard 2 liberal jokes and the main one was about Hillary and even I don't like her. great story and he eased up on the dumb black dude and gave him a bit of character rather then a one note mess up

Another great ZA book

The book picks up right where the prior ended, and keeps the pace up throughout.

Superb story, superb writing and superb narration 👌

Thoroughly enjoyable storyline with solid characters and excellent narration. The first the foundation for a gripping story.
No overkill on weapon detail like most Zombie novels! Class!
