Publisher's Summary

An all powerful entity bestows individuals with a powerful brand in the form of a tattoo. Using the system that is controlled by the tattoo, you can learn supernatural abilities, acquire knowledge unknown to man, and acquire objects that would only be found in fiction. The world is changing...and it has yet to be determined if it is for better or worse. Two friends who grew up together, Ace and Vincent, have been chosen.

Ace lives for physical improvement. He loves the feeling of breaking his records and growing stronger. Unfortunately, he has plateaued in recent months, discouraging him greatly. Vincent is plagued by little to no desire in anything he does. Good grades? Successful life? He feels nothing. Except, perhaps, the feeling of pain and fear. Sadly for him, modern day society is a peaceful one.

The arrival of the tattoo flipped their lives upside down. It granted them the ability to fulfill their desires. However...they weren't the only ones who were given the tattoo.

I liked the story

The story itself I found was basic but interesting, didn't have a problem with it. Conversations sounded ridged with he said this then he said that, they explained this, ect. Multiple times I was considering to stop just because it annoyed me so much. Performance wasn't bad but most characters sounded pretty much the same. Didn't really bother me much.

I wanted to like this.

This book had a good start, interesting theme. There just wasn't good story writing here. I picked up this series because really enjoyed Tower of Heaven from this same author. I just couldn't finish it, made it about 3 hours in before having to quit. The narrator didn't help matters. Very poor delivery from him. I wouldn't recommend this, but I would recommend his other title Tower of Heaven.

As the final battle is described.

"It ended with an anticlimax" So did the serie as well. As it seems author is writing another series atm I think this is it (which is nice, I hate to wait for books to be ready). I think specifically those that started my favourite series "Dark Tower" by Stephen King in 77 when The Gunslinger were published, and I think last book came in early 2000s (04?). But his newest series (this author) Tower of Heaven have alot of potential. Unfortunately only 2 books so far and it has atleast potential for 2 - 3 more books. This was ok as said, but could be much more. I would love an extra book about missions with the cyborg guy. Kinda makes room for it. But I guess more than me want 30 hr days!

Get a better narrator. he completely destroyed your book. one last thing is to work on your dialogue

Alright if you can get past the narration

Enjoyed it for the beginnings that it was. Milan's growth as a writer is evident in later works. Narration was tolerable, if only just. Voicing of characters was pretty flat and lifeless and I'll be dammed if every instance of laughter wasn't the same creepy, clipped, villain stereotype, making me want to chuck my headphones after the umpteenth time hearing it.

Fun books

Fun story with a bit of ideas from other places that make for a interesting story . it was nice to have a character that was a sociopath but not be the villain. Narration was good not the best but good. it was neat to see the development of society over the span of years affecting a planet.

interesting, but predictable

the first 2 books were really interesting, though a bit predictable, but what book isn't these days. The protagonists are unique in their own way and cover each others weakness and support each other through thick and thin. The 3rd book is where I almost quit, the whole book felt rushed, it felt cheap and the troped used could be spotted from a mile away. I was actually quite disappointed in the whole 3rd installment of this series. would recommen spending a credit for this bundle or whatever you would call it, as 80ish % is entertaining.

Starts out well, but slowly lost all interest

I finished this out but honestly starting from about a third the way through the second book it lost all suspense. It got to the point where you just know the main char is gonna win. The longer this series goes the more anticlimactic the battles become eventually ending up at outrageous levels of power. That being said I did enjoy the first book and the general setting for the novel.

Overall pretty good

There were a few weird word choices here in there and some odd pauses in the narration

Cool story bad reading

Going to be honest I really liked this story but the flat emotionless tone of the narrator is so jarring and constantly takes you out of the story All that having been said if you enjoy lot rpg and zombie stories then this is a pretty good book for a miniut
