Der Autor:
Fritz Mauthner, geboren 1848 in Horitz und gestorben 1923 in Meersburg, hinterließ bedeutende sprachphilosophische und kulturgeschichtliche Werke. 1880 war er Gründungsmitglied der "Gesellschaft der Zwanglosen", 1888 erschien die Pressesatire "Schmock". Er arbeitete später als Redakteur des Berliner Tageblatts, und war Mitglied in der Kantgesellschaft.
