In den Nachrichten hören die vier Bremer Stadtmusikanten, dass die Stadt Bremen 1.000 frischgeprägte Goldtaler geliefert bekommen soll. Auch den drei Räubern ist dies nicht entgangen. Sie belauschten nämlich den Bürgermeister, als dieser seiner Frau erzählt, die Goldtaler selbst mit dem Auto abholen zu wollen. Ihr Plan ist, die Straße mit einem umgefällten Baum zu blockieren und so den Bürgermeister auf der Heimfahrt zu überfallen. Ihr Plan gelingt, und als die vier Tiere zu spät am Tatort eintreffen, nehmen sie die Verfolgung auf und erreichen die Absteige der Räuber. Dort werden sie von einem der Räuber entdeckt und eingesperrt. Können sie sich wieder befreien? Und das Gold? Bekommt es der Bürgermeister wieder?
