In letzter Zeit aber kommt es gehäuft zum Auftreten von Schwachstellen, die kaum noch aus dem Weg zu räumen sind. Sobald ein Loch auch nur annähernd gestopft ist, reißt ein anderes auf. Man kann befürchten, dass Europa mittlerweile zu groß geworden sein mag und sein Zusammenhalt eher von außen verordnet als von innen gewachsen ist.
Zu viel Mitgeschlepptes bedroht seinen Kern, eiliges Flickwerk scheint seiner Zerreißprobe entgegenzusehen. Allerorten tun sich Widerstände gegen eine gemeinsame Linie auf, die vielleicht allzu sehr einseitig vorgegeben wird. Der angestrebte Konsens lässt immer öfter auf sich warten, manches ist bereits auf der Strecke geblieben. Möglicherweise ist es ja tatsächlich an der Zeit für einen Wechsel.
