Der Riese vom St. Leonharder-See: Vor vielen, vielen Jahren, zurzeit, als an Stelle des St. Leonharder-Sees, am Fuße des Oswaldiberges bei Villach, noch ein schönes Dörflein stand, hauste in der dortigen Gegend ein junger Riese. Er besaß wie alle seinesgleichen eine ungewöhnliche Körperkraft und war auch schön von Gestalt und Antlitz, außerdem sehr reich. Doch mit allem Glück ist jedem eine Sorge zugelegt worden; eine solche lastete auch auf dem Gemüt des Riesen. Da er nämlich von ungeheurer Körpergröße war, fand er weit und breit im Umkreise kein Weib, das ihm annähernd ebenbürtig gewesen wäre und als Braut für ihn getaugt hätte. Dieser Gedanke bereitete ihm viele schlaflose Nächte.
