Berlin 1942: Als Bruno eines Tages nach Hause kommt, werden gerade alle seine Habseligkeiten in Kisten verpackt. Sein Vater wurde befördert und die Familie muss umziehen, an einen weit entfernten Ort, wo es niemanden gibt, mit dem er spielen kann.
