Das macht sich der arme Schuhmacher Wilhelm Voigt zunutze. Er zieht sich die Uniform eines Hauptmanns an, und schon tanzen alle nach seiner Pfeife. Zusammen mit einem Trupp Soldaten stürmt er in Verkleidung das Rathaus von Köpenick und plündert die Stadtkasse. Wenn man ein magisches Buch hat, kann man dieses wahre Verbrechen am eigenen Leib miterleben. Aber dann bleibt David plötzlich im Buch stecken und kommt nicht mehr zurück...
