 Die Königstochter sitzt am Brunnenrand und spielt mit ihrer goldenen Kugel. Plötzlich fällt die Kugel in das tiefe Wasser. Der Frosch will ihr die Kugel wieder beschaffen, wenn sie ihm verspricht, dass er bei ihr im Schloss wohnen, von ihrem Teller essen, in ihrem Bett schlafen darf. Die Königstochter ist einverstanden. Als sie ihre Kugel wieder zurückbekommt, läuft sie schnell davon. Doch der Frosch folgt ihr. Als sie ihn nicht hereinlassen will, sagt der König, dass man seine Versprechen halten muss. Sie lässt ihn also herein. Er isst von ihrem Teller, und sie muss ihn auch mit in ihr Schlafzimmer nehmen. Als er in ihrem Bett liegen will, ekelt sie sich und ist so wütend, dass sie ihn nimmt und an die Wand wirft. Als er herunterfällt, ist er kein Frosch mehr, sondern ein wunderschöner Prinz.
