A great account of either forgotten or defaced heroes. with a wide range of contemporary commentary. This book gives the ready a deep understanding to the grievances and motivations of the people in that age.

We in the west only hear about the western heros, some of these guys like Skanderbeg are incredible and unknown.

Defenders of the West covers the life and influence of some of Christianities greatest and forgotten warriors. This is a unique book. One of the only contemporary titles that unashamedly celebrates our Christian heroes. No woke self flagellating. Very refreshing!

An extraordinary book! Wonderful and yet disturbing. Most definitely worth listening to on audible. The men covered in this book were true hero’s. They saved millions of people from living under centuries of oppression (for more on those who did not escape, read ‘The Third Choice’ by Mark Durie).

So fascinating! I couldn’t stop listening. It was amazing to hear the actual words of these heroes from so long ago. And it boggled my mind that both sides recorded the same things. Just goes to show that truth really can’t contradict truth. An awesome listen, helped along by a really good narrator. He put just enough drama into his reading to keep it interesting without detracting from the content. And …Vlad the Impaler, of course, aside from the actual Impaling part…it was fascinating to hear how his legend began. For sure I will listen to this again, probably after I listen to the author’s other books 😊
