When no one knows you exist, you don’t have to play by the rules....

Meet former MI5 officer Matt Logan, now part of a totally deniable government organization known as ‘Blindeye’, with full licence to do whatever it takes to neutralize threats to the UK’s national security.

When intelligence comes through that the Kremlin plans to launch a terror attack in London, Logan and the team set in motion a surveillance operation on a billionaire Russian oligarch who may be connected with the incoming threat.

As they dig into the man’s life, they soon discover a network of incredibly dangerous individuals whose plans could tear the nation apart. Battling personal demons of his own, Logan must defend his country from a terrifying enemy or die trying....

Defend or Die is the second in Tom Marcus' breathtaking series featuring tortured MI5 operative Matt Logan, following on from Capture or Kill.

Slightly disappointed

Completely agree with some of the previous reviews. Started off interesting and the story evolving into high intensity.
Then boom .... strung out scenes of PTSD, and chapters of conversations with himself and then under the church ..... just seemed to lose its depth. I’ve waited in anticipation for this to be released , and to be honest was not the Tom Marcus or “Logan/ blind eye” I was expecting.
Excellent narration managed to hold the story together

Worth the wait!

After reading the previous book I couldn’t wait to listen to this! so I pre ordered it and started it on the day it was released (today) and I was unable to stop! Finished the whole book in one go.
I don’t write reviews usually but this author is incredibly talented as is the narrator.
I’m gutted it’s over really hoping for more books to come.

A slight disappointing this time

Not as good as his previous books unfortunately, less action this time and the time under the church was not great .

Left me asking more questions than it answered

Unlike his first 3, Defend or Die is more about characters and storyline. Not really going into procedures, protocol or techniques employed by the security services. I have waiting a year in total anticipation for this and feel slightly deflated. Touches on PTSD and mental health however the ‘radicalisation’ stage of the story felt very rushed and incomplete.

Disappointed

I have loved all the previous books, yet this one is such a waste of time. Daisy, Stevie Nicholls, just don't waste your time. The banter between the team is embarrassing. Just wait for the next one.

Disappointed

Having really enjoyed the other three books by this author, I had high hopes for this one too, but was left disappointed. It’s fiction of course, but I like my fiction relatable, in that I like to imagine that it could actually happen. Whilst that was the case in the first Matt Logan book, I didn’t feel the same about this one. It seemed far fetched to me, the complex mix of characters was in fact too complex, and we could have easily left the Russian connections out and still had the story play out the way it did.

I don’t know. I don’t want to be incredibly harsh, but I just wasn’t feeling this one.

And the foxes. All of the foxes. What’s with the foxes??

Jason Langley, however, who narrated the Audible version did a sterling job and the narration alone is worth five stars, while the story itself only three.

Too many ghosts!

I have previously enjoyed both of Tom‘s books previously but I feel he may have lost his way a little on this one due to the amount of space that he gives the ghosts in the minds of his main character. I look forward to your next one and hope this is just an anomaly.

In Dark places hide bad things

This took a really dark and unexpected turn as we went through a mental deconstruction of the undercover agent. PTSD or communing with spirits, you make your own judgment. This was really well put together, a gripping read.
