Publisher's Summary

Koren Bladewell now knows he is a wizard, but he is lost in the wilderness, cut off from help, and unable to use his powers. The enemy is poised at the border with an overwhelming invasion force, and it will take wizards, soldiers and a young, untested princess to hold off defeat long enough for Koren to be trained and grow into his power. But he might not wish to help those who deceived him and destroyed his life.

outstanding performance

anyone who thinks performing these stories is simply a case of reading them out needs to listen to Gerald Reynolds, as he's an absolute master of voices, and characters. the story itself is great, Craig has done a superb job, but man, this narrator simply brings it to life. great job

3 excellent books

Well written, beautifully narrated and a rounded story that ends well. I'm so happy! I hope you are too, when you listen to or read it.

The story has become tedious

I really enjoyed the first book. The second was good too. But I'm really struggling to get through this third one. The writing is simpler than I'd like, particularly regarding both characterisation of the demon (there isn't any) and also in how magic works (power from the spirit world, support of 'the spirits'). It's overly simplistic and I'm finding I just want it to be over. I have a little under 4 hours left in the book but I'm putting it down now, perhaps to be finished another time. The author has since written better works, imo.

the best

So sad this is the last book of the series. this is actually one of my favourite audiobooks ever. The production and the story are both the best. can't say enough. hope Alanson decides to continue.

Great finish to the series

I was dubious about getting the 3rd book in the series. So glad I did, I thoroughly enjoyed it. I do like a series that actually ends (although it could be picked up with further instalments).
