Publisher's Summary

I own you. I have the piece of paper to prove it. It's undeniable and unbreakable. You belong to me until you've paid off your debts.

Nila Weaver's family is indebted. Being the first born daughter, her life is forfeit to the first born son of the Hawks to pay for sins of ancestors' past. The dark ages might have come and gone, but debts never leave. She has no choice in the matter.

She is no longer free.

Jethro Hawk receives Nila as an inheritance present on his 29th birthday. Her life is his until she's paid off a debt that's centuries old. He can do what he likes with her - nothing is out of bounds - she has to obey.

There are no rules. Only payments.

Odd voice casting choices

The voice acting was very over the top and distracting, especially for Jethro. He's meant to be this quiet, menacing dude that's very introverted. Not overly arrogant and boisterous. The voice was a match for Nila's brother, but not for Jet. It took me a while to get used to Nila's voice, it was very Hermione. The Indebted series is one of my favourites by Pepper, but I don't think I'd be able to make it through the whole series in audio with the casting.

Good but!!!!

The story was good but very long winded, it took a very long time and didn’t tell much. The narrators were irritating with their fake English accents, would have been much better to actually have English people narrating.

Oh man I hate these !

You know those books riding the borders of scoff worthy and terrible so hard. But then they make a second one which you have to listen to because even though you know better, a small part of you inside that still believes in impossible things, is holding onto the hope that the next book will make it all make sense somehow ?.
First up if your into protagonists with any redeemable qualities AT ALL, this is not your bag girlfriend. Secondly, if that wasn't enough of a turn off for you, the male narrator deadset sounds like a David Walliams Little Britain character trying to talk husky which is about as sexy as listening to your grandad narrate for you.
So those are the pitfalls before we've even touched on the ludicrous storyline. And sometimes a ludicrous storyline just works. But this reads like some posh horsey socialites wet dream. And I think we can all attest that sometimes our fantasies don't always make sense and it doesn't lessen the sensuality for yourself but may leave anyone else wondering "Jesus what goes on in her head".
The female narrators accent is strange and all over the place which constantly pulls your focus from what you are reading and the whole thing is more long winded than the father of a bride speech at a wedding.
I guess my point is I will be filing part 2 under 'incredibly, irreparably bored and using a free credit'. I would encourage the same for others.

Bit waffly

I did not enjoy this book. I don’t mind a dark story, but was very slow and felt like it just waffled on and on without getting to any real point. Narrators - did there job, but to be honest I wasn’t feeling it.

Amazing!!!

Let me start by saying that the Indebted Series is one of my favorites and I have visuals for Nila and Jethro and wasn't sure what I would think about this book on audio. Well Will Watt and Kylie Stewart are amazing! Immediately I was captivated by Jethro and enthralled by Nila and as they spoke I needed more just like when I was reading it. They both grasped Pepper's words and you became lost in the world of the Hawks & the Weavers and the Debt Inheritance begins. I highly recommend.

The narrators made this book in-fucking-credible!

I have spent half my day with headphones in my ear & will spend the other half on book 2; which I just bought.

So up and down.

The actual story line is ridiculous, and the heroine is pathetic. It did however keep my interest. Just trying to figure out why. Not sure if I'll cave and get the second.

Debt and whining

I truly believe this book was going to be juicy. Filled with naughty delight, instead it was a book about a whining girl, an ass of a man.

Wow Just Wow

Incredible. What a delightful surprise the narration and story were just wow. The dual narration that I enjoy listening to. Will and Kylie are my favorite to listen to they brought the story to life. The story was not what I expected but better. If you do not listen to this book you are missing out. Story and narration you will not be disappointed. Wish all books were read and as good as this one. Would love to hear more from these two narrators but only if the books are read in this manner.

This is not a romance

I have mixed feelings about this book. it is very sadistic, and the men are evil pieces of sh*t throughout the book. I'm wanting to see a redeeming quality in the main male character, and out of curiosity I will order book two. It's a very rapey book and quite unpleasant. More of a twisted psychological sadistic suspense thriller. Well, if book two doesn't have any decency or compassion I'll leave it there.

Simply Brilliant!!!!!!

If you could sum up Debt Inheritance in three words, what would they be?

intriguing, addictive and exciting

What was one of the most memorable moments of Debt Inheritance?

To me the entire book is pretty memorable. I don't want to give anything away. HAHA

What about Will M. Watt and Kylie C. Stewart ’s performance did you like?

Kylie's voice is exactly how I thought Nila's would sound. Will's voice shows such emotion. You can feel every emotion Jethro feels.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes but due to time I had to do it over a couple of days

Any additional comments?

I would HIGHLY recommend this audio book to even those who have already read the series. I feel like the audio has really enhanced my whole Indebted Series experience!

amazing and addictive!

This book is a bit darker than what I'm used to and at times it was hard to read or listen to. Some parts were just brutal. OMG! But....... it was too addictive to quit, uggggh. There are times where I felt I didn't need to hear that much self talk that the characters were doing, lol. Overall, I'm addicted and need the rest of the story.

It's ok, hope the series improves

Nila Weaver is indebted to the Hawks, in particular Jethrow Hawk due to some 600 year old agreement that both families still honour for some strange reason. Nila's character hasn't drawn me in as yet. She's creative, smart, inexperienced, at times coy and shy, whilst other times confident and outspoken. Jethrow on the other hand is your ultimate bad guy, the things he puts her through shows he cages a beast within (he's no Q, but twisted all the same). He's the master of his emotions.. that is until Nila. I liked it but I didn't love it. I'll definitely read the next instalment as the ratings seem to improve.

Hooked!

For the longest time, I wanted to know what the buzz was about this series, and now I know! Pepper Winters has mesmerized us with a story that is not only dark and delicious, but horrific! I had no idea what it was about, but I know I love dark. Starting this story as Nila is given to Jethro as a family debt. How can that be? Why her? What is the debt? Winters takes us back to a time, where debts pass from generation to generation. But this payment is just not viable or legal. Or is it? There are parts of this book that I want to say I love Jethro, then I don't. I feel for Nila, and find her strength incredible, but I am really unsure of the outcome. We are left on a cliffhanger that only leaves you wanting more, and has so many unanswered questions that the only thing to do is download book 2!!! And of course, I am. If you love dark tales, this is for you. I can't wait to see where Ms. Winters is going to take me. This narration is impeccable. A better Jethro could not have been picked. Will Watt has a voice that can be sexy and seductive, then turn and be commanding and dangerous. His voice acting is one of the best and I am loving his interpretation of Jethro. Kyle Stewart has found the essence of Nila. This is a tough character, young, fairly innocent and in a predicament that she knows what she has to do to survive. Stewart delves in and finds each emotion, leaving us in the dark just as Nila is! A perfect pair for this book.

An exciting, dark read!

Jethro isn't a nice man. Nyla hates him, but she hates the way her body reacts to him more. I didn't warm to Jethro at all in this first book in The Indebted series but look forward to listening to book 2 and hopefully changing my mind about him.

A slow starter, but well worth continuing

I've read a lot of mixed reviews about this series, and after devouring Monsters in the Dark, I wanted to get lost in more of Pepper's addictive writing.

Jethro is a complicated character... and I'll admit, he's a character I've struggled to like in this book. I've also struggled a little with the basis of the story - I've questioned a lot of things while reading this book and have been left sometimes feeling like maybe... it's going too far. At these times I remind myself - it's fiction. It wouldn't actually happen, but it makes for an interesting storyline, and let's be honest, there are stories out there that are more unbelievable.

I read one review that hated the ending... personally, I loved it, and it was partly the reason I downloaded the rest when I finished this.

This series won't be to everyone's taste, and if you've read Pepper before, you'll already know she loves to write taboo.

Will does an amazing job at portraying Jethro, I could listen to him all day long. He just has a way of making you completely believe the story.

Go in with an open mind, remember it's fiction, and you'll enjoy it.
