Publisher's Summary

I own you. I have the piece of paper to prove it. It's undeniable and unbreakable. You belong to me until you've paid off your debts.

Nila Weaver's family is indebted. Being the first born daughter, her life is forfeit to the first born son of the Hawks to pay for sins of ancestors' past. The dark ages might have come and gone, but debts never leave. She has no choice in the matter.

She is no longer free.

Jethro Hawk receives Nila as an inheritance present on his 29th birthday. Her life is his until she's paid off a debt that's centuries old. He can do what he likes with her - nothing is out of bounds - she has to obey.

There are no rules. Only payments.

Odd voice casting choices

The voice acting was very over the top and distracting, especially for Jethro. He's meant to be this quiet, menacing dude that's very introverted. Not overly arrogant and boisterous. The voice was a match for Nila's brother, but not for Jet. It took me a while to get used to Nila's voice, it was very Hermione. The Indebted series is one of my favourites by Pepper, but I don't think I'd be able to make it through the whole series in audio with the casting.

Good but!!!!

The story was good but very long winded, it took a very long time and didn’t tell much. The narrators were irritating with their fake English accents, would have been much better to actually have English people narrating.

Oh man I hate these !

You know those books riding the borders of scoff worthy and terrible so hard. But then they make a second one which you have to listen to because even though you know better, a small part of you inside that still believes in impossible things, is holding onto the hope that the next book will make it all make sense somehow ?.
First up if your into protagonists with any redeemable qualities AT ALL, this is not your bag girlfriend. Secondly, if that wasn't enough of a turn off for you, the male narrator deadset sounds like a David Walliams Little Britain character trying to talk husky which is about as sexy as listening to your grandad narrate for you.
So those are the pitfalls before we've even touched on the ludicrous storyline. And sometimes a ludicrous storyline just works. But this reads like some posh horsey socialites wet dream. And I think we can all attest that sometimes our fantasies don't always make sense and it doesn't lessen the sensuality for yourself but may leave anyone else wondering "Jesus what goes on in her head".
The female narrators accent is strange and all over the place which constantly pulls your focus from what you are reading and the whole thing is more long winded than the father of a bride speech at a wedding.
I guess my point is I will be filing part 2 under 'incredibly, irreparably bored and using a free credit'. I would encourage the same for others.

Bit waffly

I did not enjoy this book. I don’t mind a dark story, but was very slow and felt like it just waffled on and on without getting to any real point.
Narrators - did there job, but to be honest I wasn’t feeling it.
