Murder has priority. Wasn't that what they always said at the Lab?
When a young girl is found murdered in a field, the scientific examination of the remains is just a routine job for the staff of Hoggatt's forensic science laboratory. But nothing could have prepared them for the brutal death of one of their own. When the senior biologist is found dead in his laboratory, Commander Dalgliesh is called to the bleak fens of East Anglia to meet a wealth of potential suspects and cautious forensic scientists quick to pass on the blame.
But while Dalgliesh becomes embroiled in the complicated passions that lie hidden beneath the calm surface of the laboratory, the murderer is lying in wait to strike again . . .

Critic Reviews
What did you like most about Death of an Expert Witness?
As always, PD James has insight and depth with her characters, their thoughts are fascinating. A wonderfully intrusive author - just as nosey as a human can be, with the vocabulary of an aristocrat to match. What other book might you compare Death of an Expert Witness to, and why?
All PD James have flair and interest.Any additional comments?
Daniel Weyman is a delight to listen to.Always interesting
