Excellent narration and very easy listening. A pleasant break from the graphic and often horrific blood and gore storylines common among many murder/ mystery writers. If you enjoy Bernie’s style you will love Joy Ellis. Thanks Bernie for a very entertaining escape. Looking forward to completing this series.

Death in the Woods by Bernie Steadman was, quite simply, a serendipitous stumble that became an unexpected triumph. I selected this free Audible Plus listen almost by accident — a click made in haste, as the expiration date for this title loomed on July 15th. What I discovered was a debut police procedural of such assurance, nuance, and deftly-woven suspense that I found myself genuinely stunned it hasn’t received more mainstream acclaim.

I could not get past the comment that it’s okay if ‘whores’ are murdered but not if it’s ‘innocent’ girls/women. I know many people actually have that warped view of the world but it was such a gross comment that it ruined it for me. Was enjoying up until that point.
