Too many inaccuracies to be fully enjoyed
- By K. on 19-09-2019
Publisher's Summary
Location scout and Jane Austen aficionado Kate Sharp is thrilled when the company she works for lands the job of finding locations for a new film adaptation of Pride and Prejudice, but then her boss, Kevin, fails to return from a scouting trip to England. Kate travels to England to salvage Kevin's and the company's reputation before word gets out that he is missing.
Things go from bad to worse when Kate arrives in Nether Woodsmoor, a quaint village of golden stone cottages and rolling green hills, only to find no trace of Kevin except his abandoned luggage. Even the rumpled, easygoing local scout they consulted, Alex, doesn't know where Kevin might be.
Increasingly worried about Kevin and with an antsy director waiting for updates about the preproduction details, Kate embarks on a search that includes a pub-crawl and cozy cottages as well as stately country manors. But Kevin remains missing, and she begins to suspect that the picturesque village and beautiful countryside may not be as idyllic as they seem.

New Cozy Series
Enjoyed this first instalment in a new to me cozy series. It is set in a contemporary environment in a perfect English village and although the police started off sounding stupid they worked well with the amateur sleuths. Will definitely read the next instalment. I was able to pick this up as a daily deal.

An Amazing Series
When I saw this title I will be honest it was the dog on the cover that made me download it as well as the association with P and P. But I was really blown away by the story and thrilled to discover that it wasn't a stand alone book but a series. The characters of Kate and Alex really click and the details of the story and descriptions of the country side and homes really make you feel like you're there. I highly recommend it. I also really enjoyed the narrator. Sometimes narrations can be like molasses but Sarah Mollo-Christensen makes listening a pleasure.

quick read but narrator was killing me
struggled to finish but I had it on faster speed and finished it quick in 1 day. The narrator's voice I actually thought it was a automated reading like Siri reading it at the beginning then her voice finally was not monotone when it was other character voices. The story was quite predictable. Ok book if you're trying to kill time. Not one I would recommend

A little crime, a little romance
Minimal violence (although there’s a murder), platonic romantic tension, some classic English characters and countryside and culture. Not great, but easy and pleasing.

Boring
With references to Pride and Prej you'd think there would be some charm and romance ... Nope. With references to murder, youd expect some suspense and drama ... Nope. Such a dull story read by a dull narrator. The "love story" was stupid and there was no character that I cared anything about. I was glad when the book was over.

Not bad,but won't be continuing the series.
Certainly nothing wrong with this story, the narrator, or the characters, but there was nothing gripping or page-turning about it either. It was a relatively easy listen - not difficult to keep track of the characters or relationships, some nice imagery, and nothing overly grisly or traumatic, nor did I find myself drifting or struggle to finish it. Admittedly, I expected a bit more (although I can't say with certainty why), and had hoped it would be the first book in a series I'd want to continue, but I need a bit more.

Sorry, but pretty dull...
The story was interesting enough, but I really did not care for the narrator, and her style unfortunately kept my attention right through to “the end.” As to the characters, I really found myself not particularly caring about any of them. The harsh style of the chief detective at the beginning was just comical (in a sad way). I may try another in the series, but have pretty low expectations after this one.

Good cozy crime
This is an interesting cozy mystery- I’ve never heard one set in the world of location scouting before. I really enjoyed the start of the story but lost interest towards the end - the last hour and a half or so - due to the slow pace of the story (hence the four stars)
