Publisher's Summary

Sparks fly when a sexy rock star is reunited with his small town, childhood best friend. With someone trying to tear them apart, can new love survive?

People think they know Jase Connors: former front man for Kings Quarters, successful solo artist, consummate playboy. They’re unaware of his humble roots, unmatched generosity, and affection for his family. But Jase is tired from road life. Tired of road life. Just plain tired. He’s seeking solace and someone who likes him for who he is and not what he became.

Cami Ossining harbored a massive crush on her childhood best friend Jason, who ghosted her to pursue rock star fame. Spunky, albeit lonely, Cami remains in her small hometown, selflessly caring for everyone around her.

When his beloved high school teacher passes away, Jase returns to his Midwestern childhood home to honor the teacher’s final wishes. And as Cami is forced to work with Jase planning the memorial, old regrets start to fade, replaced by new feelings and emerging desires.

What happens when someone trying to come between them tests their rekindled friendship and new-found love for one another?

If you love steamy rock stars, small-town romances, second chances, forced proximity, and combustible chemistry rolled into a fast-paced story, scroll up now to buy.

Dear Future Self is the second in the Starfish: A Rock Star Romance series but can be listened to as a stand-alone.

✫✫ 4 Stars ✫✫

Very cute & sweet novella. While this can be a standalone, I think you should listen to Starfish first so you can get to know Jase better. I really enjoy second chance romance and Jase & Cami's relationship has that long lost love feeling from the beginning of this novella. I have to say, this book shows Jase's sweet & humble side for sure and I love that he worries about taking the spotlight away from others or people knowing he is behind any good deeds. To me that just makes him ever more likable.

The narration was great. The book is almost all Jase's POV so Tim Paige narrates most of the book and he does a good job. Kelsey Navarro only does a very small part but she was great!

Quick and Fun Novella!

Overll 4 stars
Narration 4.5 stars
Story 4 stars

This was a quick and fun novella featuring Jason (Jace) from Starfish. I really loved the premise of the "Dear Future Self" letters and how they played into Jason's return home. Things move very fast between Cami and Jason, but it worked since they had been childhood best friends and the foundation was already there. I do wish there would have been a few more scenes of them getting to know each other again as adults though. There wasn't a ton of drama and the ending really was perfect. I really enjoyed the narration by Tim Paige. He's a newer to me narrator, but I thought he balanced Jason's playful and bolder sides very well. Kelsey Navarro only narrated one chapter, but she complemented Tim Paige well. I wish that Cami would have had more chapters, so we could have gotten a better glimpse of things from her point of view. Overall, Dear Future Self was a fun trip back to the Starfish world!

Quick, Heart-Warming Novella

When I won this book on a Facebook giveaway, I wasn't even aware that it was part of a series! As a matter of fact, it wasn't until after I read it and was looking at Audible, that I realized that it was a novella in the Starfish Series. So I totally think you could successfully read Dear Future Self as either a Standalone or part of the series!

I love the title of this book! To me it breaths so much promise and the book delivered just that! I honestly can't wait to dive into the rest of this series...that's just how much oomph it gave me!!

I think it takes a special writer to successfully write novellas because there's a certain delicacy between too short and too long...too much or too little information, but I think Lisa Becker just hits the spot with this one!

Anytime a book has multiple narrators, I get a little giddy! I love being able to easily distinguish which character is front and center, and I find it easier with multiple narrators. Tim Paige and Kelsey Navarro are a perfect fit for this title! I look forward to hearing more from them!

Overall, this was an excellent quick, heart-warming read!

Second Chance to Love!

Dear Future Self is spin-off novella of Starfish, a Rock Star Romance. Jason and Cami's second chance to love is fun, sweet and sexy. They are both great characters. I love Mr. Hancock's Dear Future Self idea! The Girl Scout is hilarious!! Tim Paige and Kelsey Navarro did a great job with the narration. I loved it!

Perfect follow-up novella

This is the perfect followup to Starfish, a book that I absolutely loved. This novella is about former front man, Jase Connors when he comes back to his hometown after the music teacher that changed his life passes away. Jase is reunited with his childhood best friend, Cami, when their teacher leaves them in charge of planning his memorial and mailing out years of “Dear Future Self” letters that he had his students write. The sparks fly between Jase and Cami, which causes Jase to rethink his whole life. The road and endless string of one night stands has gotten old and he’s ready to find the one he’s meant to be with.

I loved the romance, drama and angst of this novella. It was a perfectly blended mix. Even though it’s a novella, the plot twist that is thrown in is perfect. I can’t wait to read Oliver’s story next.

I listened to the audiobook version of this book and Tim Paige did a wonderful job. I loved the special appearance of Kelsey Navarro. I love listening to duel narration audiobooks with these two. They compliment each other and make each story amazing.

Very sweet Novella that I highly recommend!

Jace & Cami had been friends in high school. Jace left town & became a famous rockstar. He left every thing behind when he moved to Los Angeles. The death of his high school music teacher brought him back home. Could Jace coming home change everything for him? Not if his manager, Damon has anything to say about it. Loved this sweet friends to lovers story! Highly recommend! Tim Paige did an amazing job narrating & loved Kesley Navarro's chapter as well.

Cute & Fast

This book follows leads singer Jason “Jase” McNamara from Starfish (listen to that one first to understand references)

I liked this story and it makes sense why it was fast as they had been childhood friends with possibly always a little more underlying.

Jase trusted Damon annnnddddd BAM lol

Tim Paige ROCKS! Kelsey Navarro ROCKS!

Coming home

Fantastic novella and left me wanting so much more of Jason and Cami. This is book two in the Starfish series and in book one Jase aka Jason is a big time player. A different woman at each concert venue. Two of his bandmates from Kings Quarters have found happiness and settled down but that isn't in the cards for him right now. He has went out as a solo artist and doing great but he pressure is real so when he gets a call to come home he welcomes the break. Cami can't believe she is setting here across from Jason, aka Jase, after all these years. They were best friends a lifetime ago and now he is famous. She has some heartbreak to mend from him from their teenage years and not sure it is worth the effort.

This is a great story of old friends that lost touch but never lost the feelings they had for one another. It also shows us how the party boy Jase does have a heart and just want that one woman that loves the real him and not the famous version of him.

Tim Paige and Kelsey Navarro do a great job. I loved listening to this book, my only complaint is I wanted more. It's such a great story.

Love this Series, Can't wait for MORE

I received this audiobook free for an honest review as a member of the Pink Flamingo Productions review team. This second book can be listened to/read as a standalone. Lisa does a great job with this story. Jase and Cami are chlidhood best friends. This story doesn't dwell on the "rockstar" persona but in the rekindled, adult romance. Having a favorite teacher pass away and bring them together is a great theme for this story. The narrators are awesome and did an excellent job with the characters, their personalities and the overall story. Looking forward to more books in this series.

I loved the audio for this book the voice was easy to listen to and enjoy.

I enjoyed this story, I like the old friend story. I liked there was still drama and how they connected. I just felt like I need a bit more between them first, little too quick.

Enjoyable quick listen!

Short but so sweet

What a fun short story. This book follows Jase Connors, a rockstar, who returns home to attend the memorial for his teacher. I really liked Jase- he was written as a great person, even though he was a bit of a playboy. I loved his family oriented personality. He and Cami were best friends when they were younger but then lost touch. They were reacquainted when he returned and I loved their interaction. Overall, a great short story.

The audiobook was great. Tim Paige was the primary narrator and Kelsey had a cameo. But Tim is excellent, playing multiple characters easily and believably. I loved the narration, which elevated the story.

Second chance friends to lovers

What a cool concept. Write a letter to your future self while you are in high school. I loved the characters. Jase is from the book “Starfish”, he was the lead singer of the band, Kings Quarters. Cami was his best friend in school until he decided he needed to change himself. HEA. Standalone. Love the narration, Tim and Kelsey are amazing! I definitely recommend this book!

Fun, sweet listen! All the feels

Jase - the lead singer of King's Quarters (who we met in Starfish) get a call that his favorite high school teacher has passed away and he's been named in the will.  Upon returning he reconnects with his childhood best friend Cami.  Only problem is...Cami isn't too happy to see Jase.  The sparks fly but sometimes they are too hot.

This second chance romance novella was a perfect follow up to Starfish.

Their favorite high school teacher had each of his students write a letter to their future selfs and this is the premise of the story.  Has Jase fulfilled his dreams?  Has Cami? And since their falling out are they able to reconnect as their favorite teacher always wanted them to?

He was a smart man who made it hard for them to NOT deal with their unfinished business, which led to some ups and down and some cold and HOT moments!

This is a quick, fun, short listen that offers all the feels.  Narration  by Tim Paige and the epilogue by Kelsey Navarro brought the story to life for me.

Short and Sweet

I love second chance romance, it’s one of my favourite trope. This is my second listen from Ms. Becker straight after I finished the first book Starfish. I loved Starfish and wanted to know Jason’s story. This book did not disappoint. Dear future self is cleverly written by Ms. Becker and I enjoyed this story a lot.

Tim Paige did a great a job. The Epilogue narrated by Kelsey Navarro was just the perfect way to end the book.

I would definitely recommend listening to this novella.

Sweet romance

This was not what I was expecting. It’s a sweet romance, which I didn’t think was possible when there is a rockstar involved. It shows that even the rich and famous have feelings. Great narration.

Great narration

I started this one with super high expectations because I really loved Starfish. Dear Future Self was really good for a novella and it was great to revisit the Starfish characters, however it was still a novella with a much less time to develop the story. The main characters did have a history to build on, but it still came across as more of an insta-love feeling.

Tim Paige was a new-to-me narrator and he did a great job. Kelsey Navarro had a short part and she's one of my favorite narrators so it was fun to hear her voice. I would definitely recommend the audio version.

A sweet quickie...

I'm not always convinced by short stories as feel that you lose the description and build which are possible with a longer book. But this I didn't feel at all.
I actually chose the book for it's short length as wanted to listen to a quick story and even though this is the second book in a series (And oddly I have book 1 which I haven't yet got to) I didn't feel I had missed anything.

I found the narration was really well done, though did question my sanity at the end as swore it had only listened to Tim Paige throughout! Haha!
