About this listen

Cassandra Patton Conover is about to become an outlaw. Searching for her wayward dog in Maine's dense woods, she finds her best friend Shannon crushed under a tree. Nearby she finds tracks larger than any animal she knows.

Before she can mourn her friend, Patton is hired to guide a surly reporter seeking proof of the wolves' return into Maine and a forest that's become lethal. A timber company plans to exterminate the entire pack.

A game warden torn between his Penobscot tribal roots and his law enforcement duties tries to protect both Patton and the wolves, while a dangerous mercenary hired to import the pack passes the danger onto Patton. When gold wolf eyes stare through her tent screen door, Patton accepts their challenge. To find her friend's killer, she must find and trust the pack even as the killer stalks her. To save the wolves, save her dog, and save her own life, she must break too many laws to count.

Deadly Trespass won the Mystery Writers of America McCloy Award and was a finalist in the Women's Fiction Writers Association "Rising Star" contest.
