Publisher's Summary

I'm Cisco Suarez: necromancer, shadow charmer, black magic outlaw. Sounds kinda cool, doesn't it? It was, right until I woke up half dead in a dumpster.

Did I say half dead? Because I meant 100% dead. Full on. I don't do things halfway.

So here I am, alive for some reason, just another sunny day in Miami. It's a perfect paradise, except I'm into something bad. Wanted by police, drenched in the stink of dark magic, nether creatures coming out of the woodwork, and don't get me started on the Haitian voodoo gang. Trust me, it's all fun and games until there's a zombie pit bull on your tail.

I'm Cisco Suarez: necromancer, shadow charmer, black magic outlaw, and totally screwed.

Voodoo

An unusual allotment of characters. Not what I'd normally find in a title description screaming necromancer. In the end a good book.

A Dead Man who walks

What made the experience of listening to Dead Man the most enjoyable?

The humor of the main character, Cisco Suarez, which was dry and black. I also really like the narrators voice, he did a great Cisco, and many of the othe characters.

What other book might you compare Dead Man to, and why?

It made me think of the Anita Blake Vampire Hunter series by Laurell K Hamilton due to his involvement with necromancy.

What does Neil Hellegers bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

I think Neil Hellegers had a really good voice, the dry/black sarcastic humor coming across really well and it helped me to visual what the characters would look like. As a female, I don't tend to think of the male tone of male characters, so for me he really brought the male characters to life and he did a good job with the female voices.

Any additional comments?

The overall story line was interesting with a pretty good plot, great characters whether they are or are not likeable. I found Cisco's humor really entertaining and even though he liked to refer to himself in the 3rd person, it added to my amusement of the story. I'm look forward to next in the series.
