Suzanne Collins maakte in de zomer van 2019 bekend dat er een prequel komt op haar internationale bestsellerserie De Hongerspelen. Het boek zal zich 64 jaar voor de gebeurtenissen in de rest van de reeks afspelen, op de vooravond van de tiende Hongerspelen. Katniss Everdeen, de heldin uit de trilogie, zal dus niet in het verhaal voorkomen, maar Collins legt de focus in dit boek op de zogeheten 'donkere dagen' van Panem, vlak na de eerste - en mislukte - opstand tegen het Capitool.

De trilogie van Collins werd succesvol verfilmd met Jennifer Lawrence in de hoofdrol. Naar alle waarschijnlijkheid zal ook deze prequel snel op het witte doek te zien zijn. Filmstudio Lionsgate is namelijk al in overleg met Collins om haar nieuwe verhaal tot leven te brengen.

Geweldig om dit in het Nederlands te Krijgen

Het verhaal was een beetje meegesleurd, maar goed schrijven dat boeit. Goede intro voor de serie
