Publisher's Summary

When interior designer David Snyder buys a beautiful century-old house in eastern Washington, he is reeling with heartbreak and looking for somewhere to put down roots. Unfortunately his new home comes with a laundry list of problems: electrical, plumbing, heating...things David knows nothing about. When his mother offers him the business card of a local handyman, David pictures an overweight, balding man in his fifties. But Jackson Henry couldn't be further from that stereotype.

Dark-haired, muscular, and handsome, Jackson left a large construction firm in Seattle to take care of his sick mother. However, his hometown still has an active "good old boy" network, and finding employment in construction is almost impossible for an openly gay man. Determined to persevere, Jackson takes odd jobs as a handyman. He's exactly what David needs - in more ways than one.

David isn't ready for his attraction to Jackson, not considering the way his last relationship ended. But as the two men get to know each other, it becomes clear that the heart often knows best, and it rewards those willing to listen.

Really lovely book and an excellent performance!

What a sweet, sexy and sentimental book! I just loved this so much! This is kind of a mutual hurt/comfort story about two guys who’ve had it a bit rough. David’s ex is really an asshole and he (later) really turns out to be more than just a bad break up. Jackson’s family makes his life hard and makes him feel inadequate. Together, with the help of their wonderful mothers, the two find their place in life and love.

I thought the romance was sweet, organic and sensual. The bit with David’s ex was a bit OTT but… it also reminds us that this stuff can happen in real life and it pays to be safe.

The stuff about the houses was interesting too. Having been a homeowner, I could relate to the never ending list of fixes and thought that having a new handyman boyfriend would be any homeowner’s secret fantasy!

I loved David’s mom and that David was unapologetic about it and that Jackson appreciated it too. The solution that they find at the end is perfect and we get a lovely sense of the coming couples (I’m talking about you Gil!) in future books.

If you want a fairly low angst, high romance story – this is for you!

Audio

Michael Pauley is an excellent narrator. He has a great sense of timing and emotion and knows how to give the right emphasis on words and phrases to really draw a listener in. I liked the voices he selected for David and Jackson and felt the females and other secondary characters were excellent as well.

This is a great way to enjoy this great story.

A beautiful, erotic story of love .

I have to admit , I was a bit reluctant about picking up this audio book . Usually these "gay" romance books are very poorly written and have razor thin written characters . I was very pleasantly surprised to find this book completely engrossing.. The characters well thought out and the story well conceived. I found myself enraptured by the pure romance of this book. My heart was full of love for these two characters that I was rooting for them the very beginning. The writer paced the story very well and did not rush anything to get to the more "erotic" stuff. I highly recommend this book to any and all looking for a story of inspiration and love. Rob -Kips Bay, NYC

Loved it!

Any additional comments?

I absolutely loved listening to this story!

I loved Michael Pauley's character voices, which felt spot on and not at all over the top. I loved his pacing, his timing, and the emotion he infuses into the dialogue and story.

This is absolutely going into my re-listen auto-rotation.

This just worked for me. The characters are all sharply written, the dialogue, the scenes, the sex, the side plots...everything was just absolutely lovely. I loved David and Jackson, and their relationship was such an organic build. It never felt too slow, and it just thoroughly entertained me from start to finish.

I loved the HEA and really, really hope Diana Copeland will continue this as a series.

Absolutely recommended!

Loved It

I loved this book. It was the second book by Diana Copland I’ve read and it’s my favorite so far. More chemistry, hotter bedroom scenes and more humor. I loved the banter between David and his best friend Michael, absolutely hilarious. I loved the chemistry between David and Jackson, steamy hot and flirty fun. The drama was also incredible and intense. I am 100% convinced Michael Pauley played a huge part in making this a 5 star review. The way he reads, so fluently and with so much passion. It plays out so perfectly in my mind it’s almost like watching a movie. This was an incredible read and I highly recommend it.

Looking for a romance? Here you go!

This was a sweet romance, but I was a bit disappointed that it didn’t measure up to Diana Copland’s “A Reason to Believe”. I loved that book. This one was a good romance but apart from a couple of mild interactions with a disgruntled ex, that’s it. That being said, if I’m in the mood for a straight romance, I would likely read “Michael Reinvented”. The narrator was good, although there were several mispronunciations. Although they were distracting, it was only briefly.
