I ADORE Marie & Matt

loved listening to the audio of Dating-ish. Some of my favourite scenes in this story involve the man gossip phone tree, *the dance*, and the scene where Matt steps out of the elevator and walks into the hallway - that hurts my heart every time! Love Marie & Matt. As always, Joy Nash is fabulous to listen to.

OK. This is my new favourite Penny Reid.

This just may be my new favourite overall listen. Neanderthal was my previous fav. This is what I'm looking for when I'm scouring the store for a new book. I'm in a relationship, I don't want to listen to hours of sex scenes. I don't want to listen to hours of boring relationship talk because they get together too early in the story. This story was sweet, and a little comical, but not too sweet. Sexy, and sex scenes timed beautifully toward the end. Lots of chemistry and angst throughout. Matt is my new favourite character. I actually laughed out loud at some of his reactions. I cried too. Cheers for the entertainment.

Smart & Funny

This has been a hit and miss series for me, but I enjoyed this story very much. Marie & Matt are very likable characters, both are smart and funny and their relationship is a slow burn. There are check ins with other characters from the previous books which is always a nice touch. I would have enjoyed a little more from Matt’s POV, but overall a decent read.

Dating-ish

Marie and Matt didn’t start off so great but they grew to be friends then lovers. It was an interesting story but one I couldn’t get enough of. I like how they challenged each other and even if they had troubling conversations they were always honest with each other. Great ending, loved the narration.

superb!

Marie & Matt's heartfelt story, the news from the rest of the gang, the slow growth & burn, the permanent smile on my face, the anticipation, the truth, the sweetness, the sexiness, the cleverness of this book, the choice of Joy Nash as a narrator... Thank you, Mrs. Reid <3

Stand alone but should read others first

Most stand alone books in series briefly involve or reference previous characters. This book spends 1/2 time on the old characters and there are a lot of them. I felt it detracted from the story because there were so many players who I didn't know and didn't have investment in. The dialogue was prolonged in this way. Wanted more time with the main characters. Should read the other books first

Oh My Marie

What an absolutely hilarious battle of wills and wits... Two brilliant and stubborn people always make for some hilarious moments. Absolutely one of the funniest books in the series. I cannot wait to see what Cat and Dan's story has in store for us.

Matt & Marie’s story

Every time I finish a Penny Reid book I think it is my favorite. Then I read the next and it unbelievably is my new favorite. This book is my new favorite. It was a delightful listen that included laughter and a wonderful telling of a couple falling in love. Penny writes some of the most unique & witty characters. I encourage you to listen to Matt & Marie’s story.

warm-hearted and fun

this is a fun and lovely story about a woman assuming instead of talking things over with the person in question. instead of talking to or telling Matt about her thoughts and feelings, Marie assumes or talk to/listen to others abut him. like a simpleton she continuously discusses or react to the symptoms of her feelings instead of bringing up the root course, and feels rejected when Matts reactions are based on these roundabout talks on her infatuation. This of course makes a lot of unnecessary drama and misunderstandings and lays the foundation for the whole book. I will say that this makes Marie the opposite of Jane who almost never assumes, and instead is drawing paralels to the equal frustrating Elisabeth from the second book. I find it quite annoying, but the story is still warm-hearted and fun, so I recommend a read.

Dating?

Dating, not dating? What do you do when you’re in the friend zone and don’t want to be? Look for a window, or break down a wall! Marie immerses herself in experiences for her articles. Matt just lives his work. Very interesting information on computers, AI, various applications. Penny Reid makes smart very sexy and her books a bit informative. I just love and enjoy her books as well as her humor.

One of my favourite Penny Reid books

4.5* I can't help it, I just adore everything Penny Reid puts out. I think I might be biased. The mix of smart and funny, sexy and sometimes angsty she puts together to make her stories hooks me in and holds me tight. This is the 14th book of hers I have read and I have yet to be let down in any great way. Matt and Marie, well I didn't see them together at all. But it worked. The slow burn friends to lovers romance..it was everything. And their friendship was so wholesome, even though they were both into each other the whole time. SO CUTE.

Wonderful! Charming, clever heartwarming and funny

I loved, loved, loved every word. The characters were so vivid and I was enthralled by all their idiosyncrasies and charm. So many laughs as well as heart-in-mouth moments. As ever it was a pleasure to meet up with the rest of the cast from the previous books, too. Narration was amazing as ever. I can’t wait to start the next book.

Not the best in the series, but better than most!

I avidly listen to all Penny Reid’s book and this one is not a disappointment. I have to admit it’s not her best in the series, and for me it did lag a bit in the middle. I think this is probably because this book is all about the relationship and the actual plot line was bit weaker than normal so there was not the added interest of that to keep the book flowing. However as this writer on a bad day is still outstanding, and way superior to so many others in this field, I am not about to deduct stars for being slightly less than perfect.

Perfect addition that's beautifully read

So I read this first in tree-book, then e-book and now on audio. On each reading I found different things I'd missed previously

If you've not read this quirky, funny, intelligent book give yourself a shake, go read it now. Though if you've not read the series I can recommend reading in order as each book, despite being a standalone story, has spoilers for the earlier ones.

Go on... go read...now!
