Im Schwarzwald ist wohl eines der schönsten Märchen des Dichters angesiedelt. Es erzählt vom armen Köhler Peter Munk, der mit Hilfe des Glasmännleins zu Wohlstand gelangt. Der zerrinnt ihm jedoch bald zwischen den Fingern, und enttäuscht wendet sich Peter an den Holländer Michel, einen Waldgeist, der ihm anhaltenden Reichtum verspricht, wenn der junge Köhler dafür sein Herz hergibt und sich eines aus Stein einsetzen lässt. So verliert Peter alles Menschliche, verstößt seine Mutter, tötet zornig seine Frau und kann lediglich, voll unglücklicher Reue, durch die Ratschläge des Glasmännleins sein altes Herz zurückgewinnen. Eines der bekanntesten Märchen von Wilhelm Hauff in einer zeitgemäßen Hörspielfassung. Mit Musik von Christian Steyer.
