Die sechs Erben, die sich im Schloss des verstorbenen Lord Lebanon versammelt haben, staunen nicht schlecht. Bei der Testamentsverlesung erfahren sie von Rechtsanwalt Tanner, dass ihr Erbanteil nur dann ausgezahlt wird, wenn sie die folgenden sechs Tage und sechs Nächte zusammen in dem alten Gemäuer verbringen.
