Der Benediktiner Nikolaus von Kues (1401-1464), auch Cusanus genannt, war nicht nur ein herausragender Kardinal, sondern auch Philosoph, Jurist, Politiker, Mathematiker und Astronom, kurz: das Universalgenie des 15. Jahrhunderts.
