Arifa Akter ist 36 Jahre alt. Über 20 Jahre davon hat sie in Textilfabriken in Dhaka gearbeitet. Mit zehn Jahren fing sie als Helferin an, für etwa 3,30 Euro monatlich. Später wurde sie Näherin und nähte billige T-Shirts, Blusen und Hosen für den Westen. Näherinnen verdienen in Bangladesch zwischen 16 und 30 Euro im Monat, dafür arbeiten sie oft bis zu 14 Stunden am Tag - unter unmenschlichen Bedingungen.
