Einleitung

Die Reihe, in der dieses kleine Buch erscheint, heißt “Soziale Fitness”. Fit mit dem Thema Werte umzugehen bedeutet in Bezug auf dieses Buch: Das aufzugreifen, was allgemein über Werte behauptet wird, festzustellen, was über Werte geglaubt wird, zu prüfen, was Werte tatsächlich sind, darzustellen, wie sie in der Gesellschaft wirken und wozu sie taugen, sowie aufzuzeigen, wie man in Wertediskussionen sinnvoll mit dem Thema umgehen kann.

Bei der Darstellung des Themas werde ich folgendermaßen vorgehen. Zuerst werde ich idealisierte Vorstellungen demontieren, die über Werte kursieren. Erst wenn das Thema auf den Boden gesellschaftlicher Tatsachen gestellt ist, komme ich zum Wert der Werte und dazu, wie man sich in Wertediskussionen am Besten verhält.
