Das System der Naturerklärung in den Denkweisen der Alchemisten war aber ein völlig anderes als das unserer heutigen Naturwissenschaften. Entstanden im hellenistischen Ägypten nach Christi Geburt aus der Fusion griechischer und ägyptischer Religion, Medizin, Naturphilosophie und Kunst, bot die Alchemie eine ganzheitliche Betrachtung und Erklärung der Welt.
