About this listen

In a world where light deceives and darkness speaks in whispers, Cait Reagan’s quest to save her sister will awaken powers—and enemies—beyond her wildest nightmares. Bound for Ireland, Cait’s mission to rescue her sister, Aoife, falters before it even begins.

The journey ahead is perilous, and Cait’s complicated feelings for Elizabeth and Nastasia only deepen the stakes. But even worse, the Light Fae—once the guardians of all that is good—have transformed into something far darker. The Emerald Isle, meant to be a sanctuary, feels more like a snare closing in.

Caught in the chaos of Cait and Nastasia’s frantic escape from Boston is Maggie, a no-nonsense Army medic. Though held hostage, Maggie might be more than she seems, her presence stirring questions Cait isn’t ready to face. Meanwhile, Doyle is changing—her innocent cravings slowly becoming darker, unsettling the group as much as their enemies. And then there’s Rowan, an ancient vampire said to be the first of his kind—impossible to predict and even harder to trust.

Yet Cait’s most dangerous enemy might be herself. A dark power stirs within her, reshaping her thoughts, her actions, and perhaps even her soul. As her companions grow more uncertain, Cait begins to fear that the person they knew is slipping away—replaced by something far more dangerous. Haunted by a voice—her own, yet not—whispering truths she’s terrified to confront, Cait must face the unraveling of her identity while trying to discern friend from foe in a world gone mad.

Dark, gripping, and steeped in supernatural peril, Dark Sisters is a tale of light veiled in shadow. Cait’s battle to save her sister could cost her everything—even herself. And as the mist clears, one terrifying truth becomes clear: her greatest challenge lies ahead—against a foe she never saw coming.

Ah Man, I forgot how addicted I am to Cait Regan until I began to listen to Dark Sisters and got lost in Abby Craden doing what she does best – creating atmosphere and suspense through her unrivalled talent with tone, depth, and incredibly sexy accents!

Aoibh Wood is back with the fourth book in the Boston Preternatural Investigations Unit, with Dark Sisters, the continuation of Cait Regan’s journey. With Nas and Jess by her side, Cait travels to Ireland to save her sister, only to become sidetracked by the trouble surrounding the Light Fae. Knowing she has limited time to get, she fights for her own sanity and survival, along with those she loves, though fate, as always, takes them all on the path they least expected.

Wood is a master world builder and sits alongside legends such as Tamsin Muir and Samantha Shannon. From the underground preternatural creatures in Boston to the Light and Dark Fae of Irland, Wood captures the essence of myth and fairytale, weaving and spinning her own characters to blend seamlessly into this fantasy world.

One of my favourite things about this entire series is the dialogue. It’s fast, sharp and often funny as hell. The banter feels natural, and isn’t overused, lending authenticity to the relationships which are already set in stone, and those that are still developing. I hope Aoibh Wood takes the time to congratulate herself on some incredibly funny lines as she is in the writing process, because those laugh out loud times add a lightness to a story that holds its fair share of dark moments.

Dark Sisters is a easy 5 Stars, and with Abby Craden narrating, if I could elevate it even higher, I would!
