About this listen

Investment banker Ash Taylor left her cut-throat world to set up a cool, cutting-edge tattoo studio. Her love life's been a lot bumpier, though. Ever since a heart-breaking affair with a straight colleague, she's vowed to steer clear of women unsure of their sexuality.

Talent-agency executive Carmen Lyttleton is straight, career focused, and not prone to distraction from her occasional casual relationships. When her best friend gets a tattoo at Ash's studio, Carmen finds herself unexpectedly impressed by Ash and her business.

When they accidentally meet again, Carmen is shocked by the sparks between them and the realization that she feels a lot more than just admiration for Ash's work ethic. It can't possibly mean what it seems...can it?

The pull between the women is powerful but so are their fears, old baggage, and stubbornness. Can they dare to love?

Contains mature themes.

I don’t have read many stories from this author. I expected it a little bit more first off. I would like to say the narrator could’ve been a lot younger as she sounded like an old woman initially, which didn’t help with my sense of the story but if you can get past that, the whole thing was wonderful. Although painfully slow at times I had to listen to every moment to find out what happened next which drove me too tears. Although I expected a little bit more from author when it came down to the spicier bits, I was disappointed at how lacking in detail they really were as this author never held back on previous novels. Overall still very enjoyable and thank you for the epilogue.

Loved it, although painfully slow and not a fan of the narrator

This has instantly become one of my favourite books, and my equal favourite story of someone realising they are gay with “If The Shoe Fits”. The characters’ emotions and thoughts and actions all feel so realistic. The story is so beautiful and romantic. And I really love the narrator’s voice, and her voices for each character. Now I want to eat custard tarts!

Such a heartfelt story
