For centuries there have been rumors of another continent on the dragons' planet - another land far across the ocean, populated by tribes of dragons very different from those we know. But there's never been any evidence, and most dragons dismissed the rumors as fairy tales. Until now. Because it turns out the stories are true. And the other tribes are coming.

In alternating chapters this Wings of Fire special edition takes listeners back to the very beginning, when powerful, mythical dragons Clearsight, Fathom, and Darkstalker - the most dangerous dragon of all - were just dragonets. Publisher's Summary
Snowfall didn't expect to be queen of the IceWings at such a young age, but now that she is, she's going to be the best queen ever. All she has to do is keep her tribe within IceWing territory, where it's safe - while keeping every other tribe out, where they belong. It's a perfect and simple plan, backed up by all the IceWing magic Snowfall can find. That is, until a storm of unidentified dragons arrives on her shore, looking for asylum. The foreigners are completely strange and, Snowfall is certain, utterly untrustworthy. But as she escorts the miserable new tribes out of her kingdom, Snowfall is forced to reconsider her plan. Maybe she can only keep her tribe safe...if she's willing to risk everything.

A great filler to the final book
The 4th book in each arc is generally the book with the least amount of action. Which was correct for this book, the story spanned over a few days and we didn't actually get to see many monumental adventures or changes to the situation in Pantala.
But oh boy did we still get a ton of juicy character development and information that tied everything together.
I didn't like it as much to begin with, I felt that Snowfall's character was repetitive and it started to feel boring but Tui unturned so many stones in this story and weaved in so much into Snowfall's character and both the continents.
The end was heart warming, I nearly cried. This book isn't thrilling and exciting like some of the others, but it was a nice touch to see Tui explore more psychological storytelling.

Narrator was AMAZING!
The book was fabulous, with fun twists and turns per usual. My kids love this series and we listened to it at mealtimes. Absolutely guaranteed to get your kids up and to breakfast on time when the book starts whether they are sitting down or not.
The narration was incredible. You could really hear all the different characters through her voice and not have to struggle to separate who was who or suspend belief to get lost in the story.

It was close on this one
My kids and I have been anxiously awaiting the next book and this series and were so happy when it finally came out. Now that being said, we almost didn't finish this book. We've loved the series and up to this point, each of the characters. Snowfall literally almost ended the whole thing for us. She was just too much.
The author does a great job of turning it all around and making you at least cheer for her in the end, even if you don't love her. I understand the need to make her completely obnoxious at the start, but oh it was so hard to get to the point where you realize what is going on. Overall, it was a good addition and I'm ready to see what comes next.
4/5.
