About this listen

Eleven-year-old Harry Scrambles' fledgeling inventive ideas mostly end in disaster, like using his mum's Hoover to suck out a live wasps nest, then leaving the full bag for her to change. But when jewel thieves turn up on the farm and throw the siblings into the pit of doom (an old lime pit), Harry's daft ideas offer the only chance of escape.

Afterwards, chased by the crooks, with Harry's inventive mind and elder sister Lou's expertise in trickery, the siblings work well in catching the blaggards and retrieving the gems to reap a reward.

Former enemies, 'The Tiger-Striped Goons' (wasps), a vile slurry pit and their father's genuine invention, a giant sucker blower machine, lead to vile, smelly capers and riotous skulduggery in this rip-roaring adventure, set in 1970's Lincolnshire.
