Hunky electrician Joe Simmons can see Levi Miles, the cute new barista at Bold Brew, is feeling out of his depth so he orders a no-fuss coffee instead of his usual complicated brew to help him out. Levi looks forward to seeing Joe each day and he’s pleased when Joe offers to check the faulty smoke detector in his flat. The two open up about their mutual love of kink and soon they are exploring each other’s tastes. But Joe is reluctant to take the relationship further, especially when Levi has made it clear he’ll move out of Laurelsberg at the end of the summer.

This easy-read / age-gap romance had the trademark Annabel Albert fluffy sweetness with a surprising shot of kink but I found it a bit uninspiring. There’s heaps more sex than plot and the daddy kink is very mild which suits the lightness of the plot. But … the romance is instalove quick with very few twists or turns and there’s not enough relationship angst to make things interesting. It’s the start of a multi-author series centring around the kink cafe, Bold Brew, which reminds me a lot of the Vino & Veritas series. Maybe some of the other authors will hold my interest more. 🎧 Voice actor Cooper North was fantastic, his deep voice really suited the character of Joe and he lightened his voice to do Levi justice too—great choice of narrator!
