Publisher's Summary

Fans of the number one New York Times best-selling author Lora Leigh’s scorching Breed series first met Cassie as a little girl in Elizabeth’s Wolf. Now Cassie has finally come into her own as a young woman, and she’s about to discover the one she is destined for - but it is unclear whether her fate is to be mated for life, or marked for death....

The Breeds are humans altered before conception with the DNA of the predators of Earth. But although they all carry the genetic material of beasts within them, Cassandra Sinclair stands apart. A unique mix of wolf, coyote, and human, she is revered by many - but preyed upon by others. She is fiercely protected by her community...but no one manages to stop her when she slips away one day to offer her body in exchange for her sister’s safety.

The man she succumbs to surprises her by unleashing her inner animal in ways she never dreamed possible - and provokes her deep, furious rage. To Cassie’s shock, he is the mate she has long awaited. She may never be able to forgive his deception. Still, as dangerous enemies track her, and as the threat of all-out war between Breeds and the humans who despise them hovers in the air, they must join forces and hold fast to each other.

But the passionate union between them holds a potential that could change the world - and some will do anything to stop it....

Disappointed

I was looking forward to Cassie’s story but was disappointed. It was boring with not much story line. There were long winded sex scenes without much story between. There was no suspense or action, a couple of times I completely stopped listening Ho hum

book hog

holly cow Loved LOVED LOVED THIS BOOK. I had many ideas correct HOWEVER there is much surprises involved. I honestly thought this book would be a huge disappointment. I assumed alot & was correct. Having as many books as this series does along with the mistakes in the series. Cross Breed was refreshing I fully believe the author got a new shot of love for her breeds. I assume having written so many it is tiresome trying to top each book. Sadly I feel you can see when the ideas go stale. Not to mention a new series comes out. As a pro breed reader for me waiting for this book caused much dread. Cassie is just a huge part of the breed community. In the real world she was someone I was waiting to grow up & have her book. The expectation I had was higher in every book she was in. I say well worth the wait. Something I rarely get to say. For me such a involved character who needs to grow up in a series & takes a long time to do so turns out to be a dud. Not the case. Does it need that much sex?? Naw but it wasn't forced in the story. So the sex really didn't bother me. In fact I skipped NONE OF THIS BOOK!!! And will listened to again. I cant wait for the next one. I want it now. Since I adore Graham. He is much loved character although his book didn't tingle my interest.

Doubt cast on established character

I found the timid voice used by the narrator for Cassy off putting. She has been in several earlier books and has never come across as timid to me before. Left me feeling like I would have to read the book myself to reestablish her character

Okay, but annoying

First, I listened to the audio and the narrator does an okay job.

I was super excited to finally, finally get Cassie's story, but it was disappointing. The writing doesn't flow, and that's been the case lately with Lora Leigh's books. I almost stopped with the book because of how overly dramatic Cassie is. It's ridiculous; she acts like a baby. She's very naïve, and doesn't listen to sense. She lets her emotions get the best of her. I didn't like how the book started. Cassie basically prostituted herself to Dog; who is her mate, but she didn't know that when she said she'd give her virginity to him. At this point, Cassie barely knows Dog. Of course, things don't go the way she expected. Cassie is half coyote, and she just handles it all so badly. She doesn't know herself, and tries to be the perfect little Breed. Also, I don't remember the Breed being such horrible people! They were so hateful and racist against the coyotes. You would think they'd be more accepting, since they know what it's like to be discriminated against. The story besides the romance wasn't up to par with previous books and didn't drive the story on. It was boring at times. I do like Dog, and I liked the passion Cassie and Him have. The book does have some entertaining parts, and I did want to see what would happen, so I went with the 3 stars.

Waited a long time for this one

I've been following Lora Leigh's Breed series since she was writing with Elloras Cave. Cassie has always been a favorite of mine since her appearance in Elizabeth's Wolf. Now she's finally grown enough for her own story, and it did not disappoint. I purchased the audiobook because it allowed me to multitask. Glad I did. Brianna Bronte is very, very good with voices and accents. She brought this story to life.

About time!

We have been waiting for a long time for this book. For a while the series were getting a bit boring. Since Gideon and Kat, things have become interesting again. This book reminds me why I started reading these books. Can’t wait for the next one.

Finally, Cassie's story!

I loved Cassie's story. I was very surprised at who her mate was. I never saw that coming. The story was very interesting and the conclusion was a long time coming. As usual, Brianna Bronte was fabulous as a narrator. Another great Breed story by Lora Leigh.

Great book

Great book, I would never have guessed the mating match in this book. There could have been more action but overall it is one of Lora’s best

love this series

I have lived this series for years and normally get the book but being busy tried the audiobook and wasn't disappointed. each book I want it to be longer, never ending then to end but with Cassie's story I couldn't figure out who would be her mate then to have my most hated/ loved breed come in and mate her I was in love. I cannot wait for the next book and to see how Lobo and his mate get it together.

a really good read well up to standard.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book from beginning to end it was a really good story well written. I have enjoyed the whole breeds series and eagerly look forward to the next book coming out as always. The narrator Brianna Bronte has narrated all the books I have listened to so far in this series and she has become for me the voice of the breeds. For me this is the best series by this author.
