Spoilt by poor narration

Once again we have a book that whilst it may be a good story, is spoilt by the narration. So it is hard work to listen to. Its not just the modulation, tone and pitch that are poor! but there is very little distinction between the different characters. So, at times it is difficult to tell which character is speaking.
I am starting to think it isn't worth being a member as now I'm not allowed to return books I have no intention of finishing
