Publisher's Summary

John Grisham's newest legal thriller takes you inside a law firm that shouldn't exist.

Law students Mark, Todd and Zola wanted to change the world - to make it a better place. But these days these three disillusioned friends spend a lot of time hanging out in The Rooster Bar, the place where Todd serves drinks. As third-year students, they realise they have been duped. They all borrowed heavily to attend a law school so mediocre that its graduates rarely pass the bar exam, let alone get good jobs. And when they learn that their school is one of a chain owned by a shady New York hedge-fund operator who also happens to own a bank specialising in student loans, the three realise they have been caught up in The Great Law School Scam.

So they begin plotting a way out. Maybe there's a way to escape their crushing debt, expose the bank and the scam, and make a few bucks in the process. But to do so, they have to leave law school, pretend they are qualified and go into battle with a billionaire and the FBI....

Ingenious, immersive and page-turning, The Rooster Bar is a John Grisham legal thriller bar none.

Disappointed

I usually thoroughly enjoy Grisham books but this one was monotonous and only mildly interesting. There were no highs, nothing to peak interest or get the heart or imagination running. If I'd been reading a paperback I would have cast it aside early. I persevered with the audio because I could do other stuff while I listened.

An entirely orogonal but engrossing tale.

Characters that draw you in despite questionavle morals in a story line that keeps you turning pages. The conclusion is surprising ans surprisin88gly satisfying. All in all a great time spent in a different world and isn't that what a good novel is all about?

fell short of expectation

there is an expectation from this author. sorry, that was not met in this book. The storyline is flimsy at best and the buildup leaves a lot to be desired.

Not a fan.

I like the idea of the plot but don't feel like it was done quite right. The characters were hard to root for despite that being the intention of the story....I think.
My first story from this author and unfortunately I don't think I'll try another.

Good story

Really enjoyed the book. Could not stop listening. Listened to some last chapters again only because I did not want it to end.

An addictive story...be warned!

Compelling listening to this story...am left wanting to have a sequel to further track the lives of the 3 main characters.

What a story

Loved this story, gripped from the first page. Wish I could have had more of the emotional side of the trio. How they felt leaving family and so on but maybe that me and nothing to do with the book. I know the style of books John writes.

Very enjoyable read

The characters and what they’re experiencing was captured so well. You really felt their struggles to get on with life with this huge burden on their backs. Not far from the truth sometimes.
