Good story but not for the faint of heart.
Good story line, well written and researched but if I knew how graphic it would be would never have chosen it. I’m not naive about this topic or what actually happened, but there was way too much detail given for every act of violence or torture. Probably great for people who don’t mind reading this type of thing.

Educational
While harrowing to listen to I found the descriptions of the war in the Philippines very educational and emotional. I also enjoyed the complete story. John Grisham as usual keeps me fully engaged.

Best Grisham book in years.
A good read which was perhaps let down by a somewhat predictable end. Nevertheless I enjoyed the book and found it easily held my attention.

Great listening such detail in the war coverage
How forgiveness is so important , it makes for a life reflection. I feel blessed to have such a wonderful family around me. I did enjoy this book very much , I feel it was a little different from what John Grisham writes

Excellent!
Loved this book. Some of JG books are a bit meh, but this one is highly recommended. Was kept guessing till the end. The characters were excellent and I learnt so much about American/Phillipino history that I didn’t know. Really great story. A must read. Also loved the narrator and the Deep South accent. 👍

Mr. Grisham has again left me sleepless and absolutely breathless to the very end.

Good read
This was not a typical Grisham story revolving around a big trial or court case. It was the story of a family, it kept me guessing till the very end, it had a really good twist I enjoyed it.
