Publisher's Summary

Jack Reacher takes an aimless stroll past a pawn shop in a small Midwestern town. In the window he sees a West Point class ring from 2005. It's tiny. It's a woman cadet's graduation present to herself. Why would she give it up? Reacher's a West Pointer, too, and he knows what she went through to get it.

Reacher tracks the ring back to its owner, step by step, down a criminal trail leading west. Like Big Foot come out of the forest, he arrives in the deserted wilds of Wyoming. All he wants is to find the woman. If she's OK, he'll walk away. If she's not...he'll stop at nothing.

He's still shaken by the recent horrors of Make Me, and now The Midnight Line sees him set on a raw and elemental quest for simple justice. Best advice: don't get in his way.

Critic Reviews

"Each year Lee Child comes up with another Reacher. Each year I lap it up. Love it... Best one for a while... there is something subversive as well as page-turning.... The sentences are short, but that doesn't mean the thinking is small.... I don't know another author so skilled at making me turn the page, at putting me in the thick of it all." ( The Times)
"I just read the new Jack Reacher novel by Lee Child…. It is as good as they always are. I read every single one." (Malcolm Gladwell)
"Addictive... Child's trademark staccato-style delivers all-action excitement as well as a sombre message about the hypocrisy of the US war on drugs." ( Metro)

Like hanging out with an old friend

I couldn’t wait to get back to where I had left off at the end of each ride. I soak up books through audible as I soak up the glorious surrounds on every cycle commute.
For me, a Reacher book is the ultimate blend of intrigue, wit, passion and comfort. Ron is a master drawing you in to the point where you reckon you could recognize every character if you were ever to meet. Which is why Tom Cruise is just ‘not’ the right person to play this ‘iconic’ character. Honestly, the man barely scrapes 5”6, Reacher is nearly 7”, described as ‘Bigfoot’!
Keep them coming Lee, I’ll never tire of these stories.

Ok, however....

The story itself was ok, the problem was the length of time that it got dragged out over. Simply too long.
And Jack Reacher didn't have enough punch ups, he's getting soft!!!. More justified violence please.

However the narrator was as fantastic as ever, he has a great style for these types of novels. He kept it flowing where if I was reading I would have given up.

Still overall worth it, but a shorter version would have been better for me. I do bore easily though. But previous Lee Child novels are much grittier and more thrilling

GET ANOTHER NARRATOR!!!!

This was simply an unenjoyable experience solely due to the unchanged delivery of the characters. Absolutely no variety in the delivery. Have a listen, you’ll quickly hear what I mean. Sadly, I won’t be buying any further Audible Jack Reachers if Jeff Harding is the narrator.

The Midnight Line

As usual with any of Lee Childs work, this story was great. Jeff Harding narrates the male characters very well but lets down a little with the female characters. Early in the story a female detective features quite prominently, that voice put me on edge to the point where I nearly gave up listening; I’m glad I didn’t. She remained in the story but not so much. If it doesn’t bother you, I recommend this book!

The mature side of Jack (none) Reacher.

Less violence, but more thinking required. The puzzle works out well with an interesting twist.

Great Reacher Yarn

Every four or five months i come back for a Reacher fix. I read this one when it came out in hard copy and whizzed through it, totally entertained. This time I listened and took a bit longer . It sounds like a simple plot but unravels with the usual Lee Child quirkiness. I always learn something from Reacher.. this time was no different but i wont spoil the plot for other readers. A Perfect Read for travelling or spring cleaning the house.
