Story
"Your daughter is dead." When Kat Cavanaugh hears the words every mother dreads, her perfect world shatters. She takes in the beautiful long blonde hair, torn yellow dress, and chipped blue nail-varnish. It can’t be real. And then the police add the word "suicide". But Kat refuses to believe them. Even when they show her the familiar looping handwriting and smudged ink on the note her little girl left behind. She knows her bubbly, vivacious daughter would never take her own life.

Story
A production company wants to make a movie about Isabel Fielding’s life, but Leah knows this is a huge mistake. When the actress cast to play Leah is found murdered, she’s proven right in the grisliest of ways. It seems like a straightforward case: the deadliest ever female serial killer escaped prison a few hours before the murder. But Leah’s son Tom is first on the scene and Seb, Leah’s boyfriend, isn’t convinced by Tom’s innocent act. Even Leah must admit she doesn’t really know her son after he disappeared for months without contact.

Story
Seven years ago, six-year-old Maisie Earnshaw was found facedown in a duck pond, her body mutilated. Isabel - at age 14, found covered in Maisie's blood - was convicted of murder. As Leah spends time with Isabel, she comes to know her as a young woman with a sweet, gentle nature, someone she could never see as a murderer. Leah begins to suspect members of the Fielding family of framing Isabel as a young girl, and she's not the only one. True crime blogger James Gorden thinks Isabel is innocent, too.

Enjoyable story
I enjoyed the story and narrator. Although I found it a little predictable, I listened to the end.

Frustration
Great concept for a story - gosh I hated the mother through the story - selfish woman right to the end - the first half of the book made me so annoyed - but once the twin was discovered I just wanted to know how it ended xx

Once you get to a third of the way it’s good
I found the beginning to be a bit hard to keep my attention on and I’m unsure if it was the way the narrator spoke that made it slightly annoying to listen to or not and I found that I must have drifted off without knowing or it was just white noise to me for a while because when it started getting interesting I then started asking myself “hang on a minute, how did she stop being friends with such n such” and then I’d go back about 5 or 6 chapters and relistened to it.
Eventually I didn’t mind the read but it was a free read this month so I’m kinda glad I didn’t pay for it. Apologies to the author but it is mainly about the way or the tone of the narrator that made it hard to keep interested for me.
Thanks

Absolutely Brilliant!
One of the best listens for me this year. I was enthralled from start to finish and couldn’t stop listening. What a great story! The voice reader was amazing and just added so much enjoyment as well. Thank you!

Ending is a letdown
The story was good with lots of intrigue. The end left me a bit deflated. More details would have been good.

Painfully slow
I found this story quite slow and uneventful. While the story was narrated and performed well, I struggled to listen to the story in its entirety. Really, did not enjoy this title at all. That being said, I have enjoyed other titles written by the same author.

Good read
Not as good as others from this author but still worth the listen. Would have liked a bit more untangling at the end

A great performance of a second rate book
I did not really enjoy the subject matter of the story which I thought was a bit grungy and thought the whole thing was improbable but the performance was outstanding
