Publisher's Summary

Harlan Coben was voted winner of the Bestseller Dagger at the 2009 Crime Writers' Association's Crime Thriller awards .

Eight years ago David Beck was knocked unconscious and left for dead, and his wife Elizabeth was kidnapped and murdered.

For the next eight years Dr Beck re-lived the horror of what happened that day every day of his life. Then one afternoon, he receives an anonymous e-mail telling him to log on to a certain web-site at a certain time, using a code that only he and his wife knew. The screen opens on to a web cam - and it is Elizabeth's image he sees. Is it a practical joke?

But as Beck tries to find out if Elizabeth is truly alive, and what really happened the night she disappeared, the FBI are trying to pin Elizabeth's murder on him. And everyone he turns to seems to end up dead?

Awful the narration was cringe worthy!

I usually enjoy Harlan Corben as a light distraction but this audio book disappointed. The narration was terrible and the attempt at accents appalling. The story line was also patchy with under developed characters and full of cliches. I would not recommend, select another title.

Disappointing

Any additional comments?

This novel was a great disappointment. The characters were one-dimensional, the plot was formulaic and full of holes, and don't get me started on the narrator! He was simply dreadful - his timing was abysmal and his characterisations were ludicrous, absolutely ludicrous, which made the book virtually unlistenable. I have rated the overall and story components a two-star rating because my opinion might be swayed by the jaw-dropping horror of the narration, which is really worth much less than one star.

The very end makes a nonsense of the story

Would you try another book written by Harlan Coben or narrated by Tim Machin?

No I wouldn't.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

The end made a nonsense of the whole preceding story.

Have you listened to any of Tim Machin’s other performances? How does this one compare?

No I haven't.

Did Tell No One inspire you to do anything?

Not read any more Harlan Coben novels, I don't like his manipulation of the audience, it's hard to comment without including a spoiler so I'll just say I was very let down.

Any additional comments?

I know this guy is a very successful author, but if this book is anything to go by I'm not at all sure why.

tv movie

It's ok if you treat it like a low budget bubblegum tv movie on an obscure afternoon tv channel and that you like that type of thing in the first place. Some of the voice acting by the narrator is terrible (you have to hear his North Korean accent) but I don't think it reflects on the narrator so much as it may well be due to the truly nonsense and corny conversations the characters have. I didn't like or care for any of the characters in this they were all typecast stereotypes and unoriginal. The whole plot unfolds unrealistically. I gave this up at the 5 hour mark because I just couldn't bear it any longer and so therefore I just cannot give it a higher star rating.
