Understanding grief
I loved the moodiness and the ferocious Islandic scenery which provide a backdrop to a gripping mystery that the dogged detective pursues to the bitter end. But most of all I.liked the way the author got me to experience grief and sorrow that persists over decades and the additional twist of pain that comes from not knowing the details of how a death comes about or where the mortal remains are.
If t here was anything that annoyed me (and not much I have to say) it was the way the detective constantly barges into houses, the doors of which have been left open and also the way he never leaves when he,s told to
