WARNING: Side effects may include the ability to catch a killer...
FBI Agent Maggie Allen had a gift for catching serial killers.
Now, following the death of her husband and son, she can barely get out of bed.
Desperate, Maggie agrees to take part in a drug trial - a last-ditch effort to find something that might help her cope.
The drug helps.
However, it also carries several unpleasant side effects, not the least of them being an exceptional heightening of all her senses...just the kind of thing her old partner could use to help the FBI track down a prolific serial killer who is proving impossible to catch.
What disappointed you about Side Effects?
I think a computer would have narrated this book better. It looks like Angel Clark did not bother to read the book before she started reading it out loud. Overall because of her "narrating" I could not "get into" the story and then did not want to continue listening the book and would like to return it.
What didn’t you like about Angel Clark’s performance?
It looks like Angel Clark did not read the book before she started reading it out loud.
The narrator chose a voice for Maggie that made her sound like a petulant high schooler instead of an adult woman in the FBI. It was very hard to get around.
This book shows how our lives can change in an instant, giving us the chance to reinvent ourselves in our own image. Perhaps it's fantasy that magic pills like these exist, but it's not crazy to wish that they did! What I wouldn't do to be the enhanced person that Angel Clark so eloquently speaks about in her narration of Side Effects.
Not a big fan of the narrator but the story was good. Does not compare to Bad Games or Wildlife though.
Angel Clark, the narrator was awful. The narration was slow, slow, slow. Will never buy another book she reads.

This was another thrilling story from Jeff Menapace. I think that the story was interesting and kept me listening, wanting to know what would happen next.
The narrator was pretty good, I enjoyed her reading.
