The sole witness to a horrific crime, Kaylee Ramay flees to the Colorado Rockies to start a new life. There, she becomes Grace, a dog kennel employee desperately trying to avoid attention - especially from dangerously attractive K9 Officer Hugh Murdoch.
Because Hugh is tall, dark...and nothing but trouble.
Hugh is anxious to get back in the field after an act of heroism left him warming the bench. Until then, he and his K9 partner Lexi spend their hours teasing the town's mysterious newcomer. But when their simmering attraction is nearly cut short by a sniper's bullet, Hugh's mystery woman must come clean about the secrets she keeps....
Or both of them will pay the price.
Narration is unbearable. listened to the whole book hoping I would get comfortable but never did. Interpretation of studdering character is shocking, - it sounded more like the voice someone would use when making fun of shuddering. I wish I could unhear the whole thing.
I dont know what to say about the story - I was too distracted with the narration. Bummer, cause I have really enjoyed this author. Suggest you get this one on Kindle but "Gone to Deep" by Katie Ruggle on Audible was narrated very well and is a delightful story, in fact that whole series is done well.

Her reading is choppy and pauses are in the wrong points. There is no difference between one voice or another. I kept wanting to coach her as to how to add inflection in the tone to enhance the story.
That being said the story was great it kept my interest all the way through from one exciting scene to the next.

THe narrator did an excellent job infusing excitement & tension in the proper places. The story was well plotted out but the main reason I buy these books is to see the dogs at work & the interaction with their handlers. The 1st book in the series was a little light on that & so was this one. Dogs can have huge personalities but there wasn't much shown. Lexi needed a bigger role in the everyday lives of the main characters, imo.

What a wonderful book. It just makes my day as I listen! And by listening, I don’t miss a word.
Book two in the series. Great story. The K9 aspect of the series drew me and the characters kept me. Grace's prince charming turned out to be related to a vicious monster. Seeing his torture room and helping some of his uncle's victims escape before she can do so herself. Her friend's connection to a women's shelter gives her a lead so she can escape and hide.
Her hiding place is with Jules and her siblings from book one.
Hugh, wisecracking, egotistical, can't help but love the guy, K9 cop on medical leave, can't resist her any more than she can resist him. Both have enemies who are after them. Will they live to figure out if they can work together?
The two enjoy banter that keeps the serious situation lighter. There is action, valor, friendship, and loyalty. I enjoyed this one maybe even more than the first one and can't wait until next year for big-bad Oscar's story.
The same over-flogged storyline as the other books in the series. Very disappointing.
Don't waste your credit.
I highly recommend this series by this author. Great story with wonderful characters, including canine, drama, humor & twists. Anxious for the next book. Narration was terrific!

Such an easy read!! Had me laughing but on edge with the thrill all the way.
Its got romance, action, love- everything you need really. Narrator was fantastic, really funny and the actual book was well written.
Hugh was a brilliant character in the first book. Getting to know him better in this one was great. He's funny, charming, mischevious, sexy and totally delicious! I just want to steal him away, cuffs, dog and all! Great story with good twists. Can't wait for the next one!!
Where does On the Chase rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
I would not say it was in my top ten but it was a very enjoyable read.
What was one of the most memorable moments of On the Chase?
Enjoyed all of it really, can't think of a moment that really stood out.
What does Callie Beaulieu bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?
She's a very good norater and gives the characters personality and voice.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes it was, although not one of my favourite was very hard to put down.
Any additional comments?
Fantastic series, will be looking to get more by this author in the future.
