THE FIRST NOVEL IN THE #1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLING IN DEATH SERIES

It is 2058, New York City. Technology now completely rules the world, but for New York Detective Eve Dallas, one irresistible impulse still rules the heart: passion...

Eve Dallas is a New York police lieutenant hunting for a ruthless killer. In over ten years on the force, she’s seen it all - and knows her survival depends on her instincts. And she’s going against every warning telling her not to get involved with Roarke, an Irish billionaire - and a suspect in Eve’s murder investigation. But passion and seduction have rules of their own, and it’s up to Eve to take a chance in the arms of a man she knows nothing about - except the addictive hunger of needing his touch.

Crack another case with Eve Dallas.

Wow! What a surprise!

I am a huge fan of J D Robb's 'Death' series. Eve Dallas is one of my most favorite characters! I eagerly wait for each book and buy it in hard cover. When deciding to purchase this series of (so far) 32 books I was skeptical ... could anyone capture Eve Dallas the way i had always envisioned her to be? YES! Susan Eriksen IS Eve Dallas and Rouke and Peabody and Charlotte oh the list goes on! This narrator reintroduced me to all the reasons i love this series! Get them all!

Phenomenal Series

This series amazing. You just can't get enough. The reading is fantastic, each character has their own voice, personality just as the author has designed it. The content just keeps getting better and better.

Guns!

Detective Eve Dallas was called out to a Code Five homicide after she had just shot a man that had murdered his little girl.
Due for testing which was postponed due to this new homicide. This story is the start of where in 2055 Eve a Cop meets a reformed thief Roarke, a
billionaire in his own right. The narration is great

5 star story but narration is one star terrible.

2022 AUDIBLE REVIEW. Fantastic 5 star story but the narration is one star terrible. I have loved this series from day one. I first read a paper book version many, many years ago, then bought the kindle one. I have every book to date. I have not loved every book, due to actions or characters, but the whole series is one I reread often. Having found the pleasure of having audible books in my life recently, I decided as these books are in audible versions too, I would start at the beginning. I am sorry to say the narrator does a miserable job. She is lacking in giving inflection between the characters as she comes across as too monotone. At times I had to go back to listen to sentences so I would know who was speaking, which is a pain and ruins the flow of the story. Roarke has to be the most un-Irish voice I’ve ever heard. I have Irish friends so the strong brogue and soft cadence they speak in is musically beautiful and rarely weakens in tone. Roarke’s voice is not Irish, nor does he even sound like the powerful man he is. Whitney sounds like a robot. Even my husband, who has only read two of the books, picked up on this when in the car with me. And that says a lot. No disrespect as narrating is a hard thing to do but so disappointing as this same narrator seems to have done the whole series. I won’t be getting any more audible books in this series with this narrator which is so, so disappointing. BOOK REVIEW A fantastic new series with believable characters that you feel you know personally. The chemistry between Eve and Roarke is so combustible, oh boy. This new series has me gripped in its thrall and I will be reading any others that are written. A good cast of characters are introduced with a fast-paced story that makes you want to read till the end to know what happens.

Really enjoyed this book.
Was sad when I finished it. Couldn’t wait to get the next one to see where the relationship goes.

Great book 1

I love this book. It sets up a brilliant series where the characters are awesome and feel like family. I have lost count of how many times I have listed to this book.
Back in 1995 books didn’t have ‘warnings’.

Simply Magic

It's really hard to find the right words to say how outstanding/fantastic this first book in the "In Death" Series is. From the story to the introduction of some of the main characters. It's a one sitting read. You won't be diasapointed.
