Publisher's Summary

The fifth legal thriller in the award-winning Help Innocent Prisoners Project series is Dani Trumball's most personal case yet, as she races to stop an execution and identify the real killer.

The brutal murder of sixteen-year-old Kelly Braden sends shock waves through a community - and an intellectually disabled man to jail. The only witness to Kelly's murder is the five-year-old cousin she was babysitting. The young girl names their neighbor, Jack Osgood, as the bat-wielding criminal. Two decades later, Osgood faces execution.

Defense Attorney Dani Trumball and her partner, investigator Tommy Noorland, are summoned to the Georgia prison where Osgood is on death row. With no friends or family of his own, there is no one left to believe Jack didn't kill Kelly but Dani and her Help Innocent Prisoners Project. With a mentally disabled son of her own, defending Osgood could be her most heartrending case yet.

While fighting a system that blocks her attempts to overturn his conviction, Dani must race to identify the real killer before Osgood's time runs out - and the murderer strikes again.

From strength to strength for Marti

I cannot praise Marti Green as an author highly enough.

This is the 5th book in the Innocent Prisoners series and if you haven't read the first four, you HAVE to settle in for the week and read them all, including this one. Just discovered a 6th one is out now and am about to start it, too.

The whole Innocent Prisoners Series is just an amazing read and just like the previous 4 books, this one kept me guessing right to the very end. Dani is a protagonist many can relate to as she juggles a hectic work/life balance, with an interesting and well balanced cast of support characters. The stories themselves are all so well written and well researched and I look forward to many more by this author.

Am I glad I read it - yes, without a doubt.
Was it a waste of my time - definitely not.
Would I sit down and read it all over again - I actually intend to re-listen to the whole series on audiobook as I enjoyed them so much.
Would I read more by this author based on this book - yes, I cannot wait.

I listened to the Audible Unabridged Audio version of this book. I found the narrator great to listen to and perfectly suited to the story.
