Detective Lauren Pengelly has only been part of the Penzance police force for less than two years, but that’s enough time to know that the sleepy Cornish town doesn’t see many murders. So, when the bones of a woman with a hole in her skull are discovered behind a derelict cottage, she immediately assumes the worst. Rallying her team, Lauren is flooded with a strange sense of relief when the bones turn out to be almost twenty years old, not a recent victim. Annoying voice of main character
Couldn't bear to continue. how can this story be by the same author? puerile and this Rory has a snotty upper class English accent while the Rory in the other series is Scottish.

Another Incredible Novel by Joy Ellis
Absolutely loved this one!!! The story is fantastic, characters great as always...there are a few things that should have been picked up in editing...repeats of a phrase, names gotten wrong, that sort of thing. Nothing too bad though. The story is great and I was really happy with the ending. Excited to read more in the series!

I think I’ll Read the Books
I’ve been persevering with this series because I used to live in the Fens and the stories are sort Lincolnshire Noir lite.
But sadly this will be the last. I just can’t handle the terrible accents and atrocious pronunciation. If you are going to choose a professional to read a story at least choose one with a grasp of the English language - or at least get an editorial team who will actually listen and correct blatant errors. No-one pronounces lough low. Similar rank mistakes with cagoule, carbine, adversary and so, so many more. And they have to be the worst Irish, Scottish and Jordy accents I’ve ever heard. And if you are going to read a whole series of books about the Lincolnshire Fens - maybe go there and listen to some accents. And if you have and still can’t get them then let someone else have the job. Sorry can’t do it any more….

Great thriller, shame about the pathologist
DI Nikki and DI’s Jackman/Evans share the same pathologist in different series, but the narration’s interpretations are world’s apart. I much prefer the “Scottish Pathologist” and wonder if DI Nikki’s series character could be changed? Otherwise it was great listen and I look forward to see what DI Nikki and DS Joseph get up too, maybe romance isn’t too far away?!

Brilliant police procedural
DI Nikki Galena is fast becoming one of my favourite characters. This story is well written and the characters are becoming like family the more I read of them. There is just enough personal back story to keep it from becoming too stuffy and official and of course, I never see the twists coming.
