Publisher's Summary

When an ex-Delta Forces operative dies in a car wreck in Miami, the FBI dismiss it as a tragic accident. But Jon Reznick isn't so sure - especially when he learns that his teetotal former colleague was apparently drunk at the wheel.

Reznick's one-man investigation quickly enters dangerous territory when it becomes clear that this was merely the first in a series of mysterious deaths. All of the victims are ex-Delta Forces, and all were involved in a top-secret Iranian hit under Reznick's command. Retribution will not be complete until Reznick is wiped out too.

With Iran's ruthless Quds Force hunting him down on US soil, assisted by a powerful Mexican drug cartel determined to increase its own foothold in the country, Reznick's survival is a threat to national security. FBI Assistant Director Martha Meyerstein is not as keen as some government officials to sacrifice him as collateral damage, but the longer Reznick runs, the more audacious his enemies become. Innocent American lives are at risk, and only Reznick's victory - or surrender - can save them.

Never a dull moment with Jon Reznick!

Would you listen to Hard Wired again? Why?

Maybe if I had nothing else to listen to and wanted something fast and fun!

Which scene was your favorite?

If I said it would give away that part of the book. I never could figure out why this question was asked.

Any additional comments?

I really enjoyed this series. I listened to all four consecutively and HIGHLY RECOMMEND them when you are looking for a fast exciting book with likable characters. In this book someone is killing off the members of Reznick's former Delta team. He's also on the list. When he's taken into custody by the American military he realizes at the last minute that they are not trying to protect him, but instead are willing to betray him for the greater cause.
Jeffrey Kafer does an excellent job narrating.

Too much profanity

Expand vocabulary. There are thousands of words in the dictionary. Professionals do not talk this way.

Fantastic. Most action-packed yet.

I don't find it heroic for the protagonist to be doing the scientist killings, something more likely an Israeli op, and I would hate to think that Delta would stand by as they were killed and the US would swap their last hero who just saved the president to to make an exchange with a terrorist. If the US did that, any for could get whatever they wanted. It would be nice to see Reznick have more support and a team. It seems strange he is always regarded as a rogue wash out after so many deeds. Honoring a Delta exposes them and that's not a good thing either. I like how it captures the cynicism of government and shows false flags, but it's a double standard if the hero can kill Iranian scientists while they are signed to the non-profit treaty and everyone just forgets Israel has nukes and is a theocracy way more violent than Iran, a country that has never engaged in a war of aggression since the US has existed. But when Israel is so in control of our country, the tail wagging the dig, this is the perception. You will never read a book that shows Israel in any negative light. Funny, any other country including our own can serve up bad guys, but you will never see antagonist that are either Jewish or Israeli. Think on that as we just love crazy irrational terrorists who just want to blow themselves up. It might make for a simple narrative, but it is 2017.

Hard wired

This was the best of the three. I was really glad that they changed the narrator. All in all not great books but something to listen to while driving or cleaning house

Jon Reznick cheats death...again!

J. B. Turner's Jon Reznick series excels at action and suspense. Hard Wired is Book 3 od what is a three novel series so far. Reznick continues to achieve the near impossible, but not without injury and near death. FBI Assistant Director Martha Meyerstein is again a primary character in this novel that is about Iran attempting to kill the entire Delta Force team (including Reznick) that entered Iran to assassinate a scientist years ago. Iran has the active support of some key employees of the CIA. As in the prior to novels narration by Jeffrey Kafer is outstanding.

These novels are not great literature, but they do keep the attention of the listener.

Interesting story line, weak supporting characters.

This is book 3 in this series. Despite my enjoyment of the plot, I constantly frustrated with some of the recurring characters. In my humble opinion, the AD of the FBI should relocate her 'right hand man' Rob, because he has no learning curve! He continually degrades Jon's capabilities, tradecraft and intelligence, even though time after time his logical assessments Always helps them to achieve their end game. Anyone who is consistently obtuse & blinkered, is a liability to a team and cannot be depended on to do the right thing.

The AD herself is oftentimes illogical. Why did she need to go with the SWAT Team? That makes no strategic sense.

I'm happily listening to these novels, courtesy of my Kindle Unlimited subscription, I have 1 more to go, even though I know that there's a fifth book on the horizon. I doubt that I would persevere with this series beyond this book otherwise. Those character flaws irritate me - LOL.

Jon R is a Jack Reacher/John Milton combo. I like him, I'm sorry that he has this tendency to hang around with those FBI characters. He could do better! ;o)
