Story was great, narrator not so much
Really enjoyed the story, but the narrators voice was far too gravelly and deep, which grated on me.

Too much cruelty
I only got to one hour mark but the level of described cruelty against animals made me switch the hook off and return it. Not sure why scenes of twisting birds necks off and cutting mice ears off with the scalpel have to be portrayed in such details. Riding on cruelt and shock factor is not a good feature!

I am loving Candice and Lani
This is the fifth book I’ve listen to that Candice has either written or co-authored and I am loving her work. I don’t have any flash works to critique her work, other than Candice writes a fabulous story that flows well and is compelling.
I have listened to a few books narrated by Lani (most of those are Candice’s books) and I find he is the perfect match for Candice’s books.
On to the next one now...🙃

Just too grim
I don’t know if it’s the narrator or subject matter but Christ on a bike this was grim. There’s a few authors I find just too depressing, such as Mo Hayder, and I suspect this author is just not my thing. Didnt finish, returned it for a credit when I felt it was going down the Dexter path cos life is too short to not love what you’re listening too imho

Good Story
Strong voice over so definitely listen to the sample first. The pauses between chapters were too short which sometimes confused the story line. Good story and characters that you began to care about.
