Publisher's Summary

A game. A husband and wife game. Gerald's Game. But this time Jesse didn't want to play.

Lying there, spread-eagled and handcuffed to the bedstead while he'd loomed and drooled over her, she'd felt angry and humiliated. So she'd kicked out hard. Aimed to hit him where it hurt. He wasn't meant to die, leaving Jesse alone and helpless in a lakeside holiday cabin.

Miles from anywhere. No one to hear her screams. Alone. Except for the voices in her head that had begun to chatter and argue and sneer....

Glaring issue

While the book was itself interesting, the music was ghastly and distracting. The abrupt and loud sounds break the grip this book has and ruins the tense atomsphere.

Not what I expected!

Very deep and disturbing in some aspects. An exploration into the inner turmoils of a woman forced into a position that reawakened a great injustice. Look out for Easter eggs (as expected) that interweave the King multiverse. Proof again that King is the best!

☆☆☆absolutely amazing☆☆

This is one of Kings finishest book.
There were times I wanted to skip certain parts. By listening to this was better than a therapist.

Another great offering from King

What is real and what is not? What is memory and what is monster? I love the ending of this clever book, where we find out what was real and what was imagined. I think this book is extra scary because King makes it seem to possible, including the horrendous detail of the handcuffs.

I love this narrator. She did an amazing job with Misery and brings such life to the characters. The music doesn’t add much for me, but at least this is less intrusive than some of the other audiobooks.

Cool concept but too long!

Overall an enjoyable listen, but way waaaaay too long. With tighter editing this would have been brilliant!

Dragged out

A quarter of the length might have good. Currently painful in how it just drags on and on.

A great listen!

I first saw the Gerald's Game movie on Netflix and really liked it, so I decided to listen to the audio book. If you've seen the movie, the book is quite different and will keep you entertained. There are plot similarities, but you get a much more in-depth look into Jessie's psyche throughout her ordeal. A really interesting story of loss, emotional baggage, fear and strength.

a story of survival from a place of comfort.

King is at his best when he takes a seemingly safe place or scenario and makes you second guess it.

He just knows how to write characters, and in this case its very important being there is only one(technically) for 80% of the book.

Although not my favourite King story, still a good one. Trigger warnings for certain plots of the book.

The voice acting didn’t quite fit with the character

To me, the character of Jessie is quiet, submissive and solemn. But through the voice acting she sounds extremely angry and abrasive - which is a bit jarring in the context of the story. It was adequate performance, and she has done great voice acting on other books, but it just doesn’t fit with this book.
